Hey , Dummy Grow a Plant - Simple Soil Container Growing

I always pop my beans offsite to give them a jump start and comply with my local plant count. When it's time to bring her home would you still recommend a weaker soil mix for the top layer or should I go into all ocean forest?

A topdress can vary ( dry fertilizer/ fresh soil / etc )
I tend to let container mix run them outright then depending on their feeding habits ( container soil exhaustion ) . All you are doing is “ topping “ off the soil - replacing only what plant used up. So if you want to extend time between “ feeding / recharging “ then a dry fertilizer will carry for at least 2 weeks since it takes sometime for it to be available for plant.

Fresh soil will do the same but also will act as a “ tea “ since watering it in will carry fresh nutrients deep in to container. That also will recharge it for a week or 2.

And you can even do both together - preblended then added to topsoil.

There really isn’t a preferred method - either way is rather simple to do. So if you didn’t have dry fertilizer on hand ( lets say for argument ) - no worries since you have a bag of fresh soil.

Budz, this was a very good read thanks man. Amazon should be giving you a cut- I just ordered the ingredients for this recipe. Going to give it a go for my first indoor grow (auto) in ~15ish years. Grew some autos outdoors last two seasons, real half ass effort. Gearing up for effort this outdoor season. I appreciate the comments about the cartoon whatever the hells and fancy sticker/stupid name products that seem to have taken over the weed game since my hiatus. Seems the mustache twirling hipsters that turned beer into “craft brewing” and $16 4 packs are after the weed world now.

PS I’m not peeing on anything tho

I just want to add, no hate intended, I’m a big fan of the craft beer product and just bought a ton of funny named strains I’m looking forward to trying.

I get tired of “ hipster weed “ - I try to source and keep more classic cuts - Romulan , Sour D , BD , Afghani , Master Kush etc.
I have no need or desire to run “ toffee cookies “ or “ Sprinkle Titty or whatever “. I tend to look at the lineage of the cut to see if it is at least spawned from something good , however many “ breeders “ will take someones work ( repackage and rename it ) just to sling seeds.

Here’s lookin at you instagram . :finger:

Update : 2 weeks from topdress

Not much i can talk about here other than they have been doing well on that last topdress since Jan. 11th.

The Tent with the QB96 rig ( 2 plants ) was flipped.
The QB304 tent is all good on veg stage. I technically could and probably should flip them as well.

My only hiccup is that plant in the lower right - that is Urinal Cake ( from my PEE thread ) she is getting bigger and will be next for LST training but i kind of wanted to let it get some structure before flipping that one. If i flip the tent she is in - i dont have anymore vegging tents left. All would be flowering.

I “ plan “ another topdressing around this weekend - this highlights that a well planned / spaced topdressing bump will carry plants for at least 2 weeks between intervals.

Just a Recap -

All of these plants had one topdress since transplant , the host medium is still probably nute charged but we all know as they move to flower their hunger goes up. One of the BEST reasons to do things like a layered mix and interval topdress feeding is there is No measuring of separate nutes , No guessing ratios , No cooking soil recipes or buying multi bottles of “fluff“.

Well I'm watching and learning some.

Just starting a Grow with Microbs to feed the plants we shall see.

Thinking of planting some Garlic and putting some Mint in to keep Bugs at bay.

LST TRAINING

Yesterday i did some plant training on them , i also gave them a kelp watering. All have been flipped and are barely a few days in. I will do a dry fertilizer “ topdress “ in a few days ( when they need watering again ).

Tall Gal in right corner back is Urinal Cake ( my pee plant ) well you can she how well that’s going for her.
Maybe i should have pissed on the others.

( *shrugs )

Just straight pee. Was reading on another guy using pee but he ferments his.

He also uses Fish, Wood Ash and Weeds and Grass.

Makes up Teas and let's them ferment.

Changed what I'm doing and using I think it's Microlife Fertilizer. Last for 4 months.

Update - flower

Well these are the plants left from post #92 … after the herm issues.
These ladies are setting up nicely and will get their next topdress on Friday or Saturday. Everything is still going smoothly for these girls .

You can see with simple gardening practices ( no overfeeding lol ) even the fabric containers are salt free.

I water them probably every 3 days and really that’s about it. I did give them some kelp in the water last time tho.
‘Best to let them do their thing without interference……

Anyways it seemed my seed stock ( full moon fever and GG4 x double grape ) were just bad beans overall. So it looks like those “ testers will be trashed …. Shit happens.

My MAXIMUS URETHRUS ( pee plant ) is also setting up flowers and will highlight her in the pee thread.

I have tried this and you will grow stuff... but if you are trying to go water ONLY you really need a much larger container. I wish you luck on this! and following along to see where it goes.
