Hey,

my plants have been chugging along, limited issues all summer. Hardly any bugs besides maybe 5-10 lady bugs that made the plants a hang out. Heard they are a growers friend so I’ve left them all summer. Other then that they have looked very healthy. Lost track of how long into flower they are but I’m feeding as if it’s week 3 of flower. Well it was raining yesterday and went out and noticed some yellow leaves located at the bottom and middle. I know leaves die as they near the end but this seems to early. From a guide I read I think it’s zinc or lockout. I flushed this morning ( hate to admit but first flush of the plants life ) just to start doing something.

outdoors - first outdoor grow

Fabric pots - one I think is 15gal, the other 20-25gal

El cheapo Fox farm nutrients ( be kind lol, been 10 years since last grow)

well water- I water when dry and until I see run off and stop

* the picture of the leaf is wet, just finished raining.*

Your plant looks fine. You may have a case of princess syndrome. ;-) That's were growers treat their plants like little princesses and worry about every minute detail. "Oh no! A bug chewed a 2mm hole in one leaf...will it be ok?" A few yellow old leaves is nothing, if the whole lower canopy was yellow that would be an issue.

It just sounds like older leaves being dropped by the plant if they are sprinkled around. Plants will also drop leaves from unproductive areas, often the middle of dense growth and the bottom.

I wasn't referring to you as a princess, just how you treat a weed....like a little princess.
Most people would pick a couple of nice tomatoes from a plant, go on about their day and not be one bit concerned about a few yellow leaves.

A few yellow leaves on Mary Jane and they hit the panic button.
I just find it somewhat amusing.

All good man, I had a good laugh.

I think your spot on with how I and others view them. I have a veggie garden as well and don’t think twice about yellowing. But not our precious!

thanks!

so I ended up having what seems to me like a decent infestation of aphids. I have been treating them for about 4-5 days and I believe the aphids have been reduced by 95%.

leaves are still turning yellow. Not sure if this is being caused by the little bastards or if it’s another reason. Been quite wet here past 10 days with only one nutrient feeding yesterday, soil has been wet otherwise.

I believe they are in week 5 of flower. Thinking I should hang tight on changing anything and see if they bounce back now that the aphids are getting under control.

thoughts?

Looks totally normal. Aphids wouldn't turn leaves yellow like that anyway. Mine are in flower, leaves are yellowing like they always do.
Ok, thank you John. Was expecting yellowing but was thinking more towards the end. First time with aphids, make my skin crawl

Towards the end as long as the sugar leaves aren't yellowing, I'm not that concerned. It may have hurt the yield a little that the fans dropped off early, but she will still chug along with just the little sugars. The very soggy soil for 10 days straight would definitely yellow them up faster.

So far the sugar leaves are untouched, heavy rain during that 10 day stretch. A little unusual but looks like a good stretch of nice weather coming.
