The dude is already almost 70. Has been writing the Winds of Winter for like six or seven years. And still has one more book to go after.

The show will at least give us his broad idea of the ending.

But will we get to know if young Aegon is a Blackfyre or true?

Will Stoneheart kill Jamie? Ever cross Jon Snow?

What is the blood red tide and is it coming for old town or east watch?

Dragon horn????

This is not my typical lit genre but I actually read the books. It felt like it had lurched into a confused mess. I wonder if they did him a favor by taking over the writing/editing.

We all know where it is going... boy meets girl while fighting white-walkers and live happily ever after. But HBO is still in need of long-term programming so choosing this property was a godsend for them. They could draw it out another 6 seasons.

He gets pretty heady in the fourth book, lots more talk of what's all the violence for than the action of the previous books. And then the fifth book adds two more plots lines and almost feels like a series reset. HBO will definitely gives us the Hollywood take on the ending. I expect if Martin does finish it will be more of an anti-war message ending. The book and show are the most different in how they reward violence. In the show it is a solution to problems. In the books it just makes things more complicated, hence the continually sprawling narrative.

How can it be an anti-war statement when the enemy is the White-walkers? I mean, without involving Chuck Norris.
