When I first went to the desert they were going to take away our food allowance because we had "a chowhall" providing our food. First place I went to we were eating MRE's. Thankfully they didn't do it.

I'm not a vet.. but my dad was... he was on the consolation loading bombs on A-7's.
And got his heals ditty..
He currently in icu .. complications from a car accident back in july... he fractured his c1 an c2 vertebra and is palylized on his right side..
Some how he ended up with two new fractures in the same disc's along with like 20-30° twisting.. while having an electromiogram he coded...
He's been in afib for the last two days....
Any way here's his hats from the medilodge where he was before icu...
This man with and without me knowing it is my fucking hero..

We had a couple of steak and lobster cookouts on the fantail in the middle of the Pacific

the food on the ship was usually okay

Funny thing happened one time on the Saipan. We had a trouble call for the reefer unit in the chief's mess. It was an easy fix, but half a dozen lobster tail somehow slipped into our tool buckets on the way out. When we were at sea, there were 2K Marines aboard, so we cooked a lot of our meals in the shop due to the long lines on the mess deck. It's amazing what you can cook in a modified 30 cup coffee pot.

I've been on ships that had both good & bad.
Some of the worst were simply can openers and fry cooks.

I had built models of some of those when I was young. Beautiful aircraft.

No. I was in Electrical. At that time in the Power Shop (everything 220v, thus the refer trouble call), but I spent most of my time in the Light Shop (all the 110v stuff), so I did do my share of flight deck lighting.

They were better than the old C rations that's for sure but eating the hot dog MRE should earn you a silver star lol. We were in the desert in California and a buddy tossed a couple of the hot dogs to a dog that had found us and was hanging around. The dog sniffed them and I swear it made the funniest face and backed away lol.

The corned beef hash was good, I guess it's hard to mess that up.

Caffeinated chocolate pudding and some hits of O2 is good for a hangover.
