Turbo Klone Water Temps

Hey y'all,

I'm running the 48 site Turbo Klone and I'm worried about my temps being too high, even with the built in fan running. The room's air temp is 76F solid and the cloner is sitting on the cool, concrete floor. The water temp in the cloner is about 82F while the water temp in my flood/drain res in the same room is 72F. It's apparent that the pump inside the cloner is generating heat. Is 82F too high of a temp to have successful rooting in this machine? I know that a timer is an option, but the timers that do 1 minute increments (for example 1 minute on, 4 off) are about $60. My cuttings are on day 5 and I don't see any signs of rooting yet. I also did a water change on day 3 when the water got cloudy.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks

The fan isn't for cooling the water, the idea behind the fan is that it's supposed to replace having to run an oxygen pump into your water (common with hydro systems), can't say if it's good or bad. Most people run a heat mat under their cloners, your water temps are fine, the reason you can use a clone machine without a dome is because of the heat/humidity they build up inside. What nutrients are you using in your machine? I never replace the water in mine until I'm done using it, I just add water when needed and pay attention to my ppm keeping it between 250 - 300 but I don't worry if it hits 220 for a few days. I'm been running the same water for about 4 weeks, refilled as needed. I just pulled out a cutting I put in 10 days ago rooted just fine.

82 will be fine for starting cuttings, don't change your res until clones have roots as the water will contain hormones.

Thanks for the replies...there sure are a lot of schools of thought out there. Many top notch growers say that they keep their clone machine temps in the low 70s for greatest success. I've also read a lot of successful accounts from people who change their water out 2 - 3 times per 14 day cycle. Like KomaGrows...check out the comments: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyCj1tdtdjo&feature=plcp

I've always used Olivia's gel for traditional cloning, but for the Turbo Klone, I put a teaspoon of Superthrive and about 10ml of Botanicare Aquashield in. If I don't have success, I'm planning on switching to Botanicare Powerclone.

Let's hear from some others out there...

I keep my cloner's temp in the low 70's clones do well in higher temps but so does bacteria. I prefer to straddle the two and go around 72 degrees. I put a frozen water bottle in for about 20 min

I also run the turbo klone t48 with a chiller hooked up and set to 72 degrees and had clones in there for over three weeks no roots sadly this last go around. Think it was due to room temp being to cold maby. Just watch out for that slime that always seems to plague me. Last couple runs in a diy cloner i made, ran 80+ temp just changed the water out every 3 days and added homemade clear rez and had 100 percent in 8 - 10 days. hope you get your to root good luck

I think I have it pretty dialed in now. Been using minute amounts of Cutting Edge Solutions (micro and bloom - thanks Koma from YouTube) and leaving it on 24/7, no timer, room temp at 76 (water around 80). I change out rez every 4 -5 days and success rates have been good.

take case of water bottles and put them in the freezer make sure water bottle is completely frozen .every 3 hours put in one bottle take the old one out that will bring your temperature down to 73 degrees 74 degrees perfect well then have 100% return on your cloning. or take a part a small refrigerator like the refrigerator for a dorm room take the coil out and run the coil into the cloning machine. if you look in the small refrigerator there's one coil going through the refrigerator to a piece of metal and that's all that is in the refrigerator to make it cold why can't you take that coil and run it through there even with that plate attached to it you'll have to take the refrigerator apart but I think it'll work I know the bottle situation works because I myself had the same problem and use the water bottleSlscenario and work perfect.go to flea market next weekend and see if I can find a refrigerator and check it out for myself
