Clone Only Strains - OG Kush

Story #1:
OG Kush (the original cut) came from an S1 from in a bag of '91 Chemdawg in the Lake Tahoe area in 1996.

Story #2: (by Kailua kid from sierra seeds:)
In late '93 John from Grass Valley Ca. got the Chem Dog cut. He shared it with me, Jerry(cowboy) from Dibble Creek Ca. and Harold(Putz) from Sunset Beach Ca. Putz had a male he called the secret ingredient. It was a cross of Lemon Thai and an Old World Paki Kush. Putz bred the secret ingredient to the Chem Dog. The buds that came out of this cross were going around So. L.A. county in '95. Someone told Putz that Kush must be so good because it was mountain grown. Putz laughed and told him "this Kush is Ocean Grown Kush bro". The tag stuck and it became known as OG Kush. In the spring of '96 Putz married a girl from New Zealand. Before moving there he sent cuts of his OG to me and Bob(beans) in Salinas Ca. He gave all his P1 stock and all the remaining seed he had to Mike(mad dog) from Downey Ca. In late '96 Mike sold some seed to some guys in the Valley. That's where the San Fernando Valley cut of OG comes from. It's like the Original only more sat in pheno type. Mike sold a cut of the original to a guy in Orange county and that cut is called Larry today. It's still around Orange county. Mike sent one other cut of the original OG to a breeder in Europe. As far as I know he never let anyone else have it.
Jerry bred his Chem Dog cut to a Humboldt county indica boy. This was the beginning of his cubing proccess. At BX3 he got a pheno that had all the smell, taste and kick of the Chem Dog, but in a pure indica pheno. Jerry gave this plant to Bob. It became known as the West Coast Dog.
Bob bred this plant to my Old World Kush male. He took a male from that cross and bred it to the OG cut Putz had sent him. This is what made the original Bubba.

Info on the different cuttings of OG Kush:

* Tahoe: cut brough into the community by Swerve. The grower that Swerve got it from had sourced the cut in the Lake Tahoe area in the 90's.
* Larry: The Orange County Larry cut that is availble in the medical scene came from the same Orange County crew that the H.A O.G Kush came from
* SFV: There are a million O.G cuts grown in the S.F.V, however the cut that goes by this name on these forums and in medical disp. came from forum member Swerve
* Ghost: This cut came from ORGNKID, ORGNKID had sold a O.G cut to a Overgrow forum member named "Ghost" who further distributed the cut.

Then you have all your knock off's also.
A bunch of generic OG strains.

There is a lot more to this story then we know. But I've seen a lot of different ones and most stem from 91 Chem cut being the mom of the ogk.

Man I'm kinda leaning toward number 2 up there. I remember at 16 in '96 we would cruise to the valley and get some kush and it was the best stuff around. I'd give anything to have that feeling from cannabis again, better than any opioid that's for sure. No tree was even getting us high but boy that kush......freaking awesome.

High times as the most accurate history....on the site..called the origins of bubba kush...the og came from Florida also like the bubba..probably from the same gene pool but different phenos...og has and always been around the south..along with other premium kushs...they just didn't know what to call it in the...90s..

No mention of the Triangle Kush? It's been around longer than OG and is extremely similar. Anyone know where that might come into play? It's been around so long I wouldn't doubt chem 91 came from the tk.

the triangle is from the same generation as Tahoe and larry and all the second generation chemdawg amalgamations. the original chemdawg batches supposedly fathered skywalker, triangle, SFV and a buncha others..

i wish i had a link to the post i read. it was really convincing and kinda took any of the heroism out of it and made it all feel more like Dumb luck and buddies just passing around good clones.... that seems the most logical to me.

il try to find it and report back if i do

Please do. Because I know the triangle started getting known in parts of Florida around 1990-1991. When did those og's start popping up in Cali, like 1994-95? You're the first person I've heard suggest they're from the same time. I've always known TK to be older.

ya i could be totally wrong on that i just seem to remember the triangle being mentioned somehow.

I myself am sick of hearing this OG fairy tale. I just doesn't matter anymore! The fact is its a very very good strain that a few have been blessed to enjoy. Whether it began in Florida, a Grateful Dead concert or was delivered from the planet Tatooine is truly irrelevant to someone like me who has been smoking for over 35 years, lives in the Midwest USA and has illegal plants cultivated in a closet!!

There's a lot of bullshit out there, but I'd almost bet my hat it was chem91 bagseed.
The sk va looks like an OG, and I think if you've grown a lot of chem and og crosses you will be more able to see the similarities between them, as there are a lot of similarities between the chems and diesels.
The thing about it is that really, who the hell cares. Even when it comes to the breeders with the cuts, there's a lot out there that don't necessarily have what they say they have, and even those that do have them don't know what to do with them. Most OGs on their own are not exactly fun to grow, they are both stretchy and generally don't have good stem length, they are finicky, and I don't know of a single one that yields well. All of this is why, if you ask me, the best thing to do with an OG is outcross it; and why these days I'd rather grow a good outcross than a bx or f2. An exception to something like Archive's Faceoff bx, which uses a solid afghani line for the source male genetics. OGs are good, definitely some of the best strains out there in terms of final product. However, ultimately nobody talking knows shit and the people who really know shit aren't talking; which to me indicates that most of them were created accidentally.

Also, the bubba being from Florida is literally the most ridiculous thing I have heard all day, and I spend a lot of my time deliberately seeking out ridiculous things. That is some fucking old school Cali genetics right there, going back five-ten years before that dipshit in High Times claimed he created it.
