The best inroom portable A/C

With summer approaching and no other source of ac i was wondering if these things work enuff too cool down my room.I seen a 8000 btu koldfront for 300.00.Does any1 know if these are good,or can reccomend me one.Thanks.

how big is is your grow? 8k btu isnt bad but if there is a huge heat load you may want to get a more powerful unit

That 8KBTU won't do a lick of good for ya.

2600 watts puts out ~10KBTUs just by itself, and then there's the room issue.

I'm in a similar setup (or will be, currently 1600 watts and expanding to about 3000 soon), have a 10x20 garage, and I'm getting an AC 3x as large as that (24BTU).

Better to get an oversized AC that can easily handle the load than a cheap 8KBTU AC that will run constantly and not get the job done.

Also, portable units generally don't operate very well with an intake temperature above 90F (which is why I'm getting a window AC and figuring out a way to exhaust to the outside).

My journal (the more recent posts) has some talk of this sort of thing if you're interested.

Can someone who knows what theye talking about please clear something up for us? If one is worried about smell then it's important that you get a dual hose ac... NO? Ive been reading a bunch of threads about portables in general and alot of people seem to only be using single hose ac's? If the unit is in your room wont it suck the funk right up and spit it out for all the neighbors to smell? Please someone clear this up.

And thanks to Bob for the tip about keeping intake temps below 90. I was planning on having my intake in my attack but not sure now.

Yeah, you certainly want a dual hose for your needs.
