At the present rate, as the population ages and life expectancies continue to rise, the system will not be able to sustain itself into the future without major reform."

Unsustainable...
you should probably read what you post, sistah.

they don't even have to make a major reform. just raise the cap and SS is solvent forever.

but of course, that isn't as scary as a douchebag (f)right winger needs it to sound.

I didn't ask "might". You are stating without qualifications that these programs are socialist. I am asking you to provide support for what you're presenting as fact.
ceterum censeo answering a question with a string of questions is a form of admission. cn
This isn't a court of law, these are opinion forums. I post mine. Do I still need to draw you a picture or are you done trolling because...my statements still stand. You might want to argue about what the definition of "is" is but it's still true.

Medicare/medicaid are, indeed, 2 "of" the socialist programs. FACT.
Medicare/medicaid/SS are more than 50% of federal spending. FACT
Medicare/medicaid/SS and 44 other dependence programs are eating up 70% of federal spending. FACT
Socialist dependence programs are mostly responsible for the economic decline. FACT

Does my pay go (against my will) to people that I owe nothing to, via the government?
mine does too!

i have to pay for bullet catchers like you who sign up for pointless wars that do nothing to "protect my freedom".

then i have to pay into these socialist programs that care for your health and other things because you were too fucking stupid and brainwashed to figure out that you were fighting for a retarded cause.

but at least you're a good little pawn. in soviet russia, you would be called a useful idiot. here in america, you're just an idiot. i have no use for you.

Dismissing my questions as trolling is facile. Is that really the way you want to present yourself?

I question that Medicaid, medicare are socialist. I don't begrudge you your opinion, but you are presenting that as fact. My challenge is simple: Substantiate or qualify. (Option c is to do neither, and thereby to marginalize your credibility.) cn

Of course you point out they say "without major reform (you just deny that major reform is needed) it's unsustainable" but that doesn't change anything that I said. Those 47 programs alone account for 70% of federal spending and that's going up under the current system. As I said, it's unsustainable. If there *are* major reforms in the future, maybe it could *become* sustainable but the best reform would be to phase them out. Socialism is a failed experiment...only embraced by subhuman lemming scum that justify making slaves out of people.

I don't have to substantiate opinion. The other option is to point out that you don't count. What you want and demand mean nothing in the real world nor even here. I say they are socialist for obvious reasons but I owe you nothing. Typ[ical liberal think they're entitled to things they aren't. :D

So, while retarded trolls want to debate whether the programs are "socialist" or not, 47 of them still account for 70% and climbing. I don't blame idiots for trying to change the subject but it wont work. ;)

If you're just not smart enough to handle the subjective, the accurate or the truth, just pretend the word socialist isn't there. Whatever helps the short yellow bus crowd sleep at night. :D

so, we were socialists until the civil war?
Don't worry bucky, nobody expects you to get it.

What I said was that socialism is slavery. The slaves were "like" socialist workers in that they had to work and they didn't reap the benefit of that work, which is exactly why Lincoln (the first Republican President) freed them. You could say that the Dixie Democrat slave plantation owners were "like" socialists since they expected some people (slaves) to work for the benefit of those that don't work (slave owners) but what you were trying to imply is banal since our economy was still based on American Capitalism until the early 1900s. Since then it's slowly been under attack by failed socialist policies and and it's nearly to the tipping point. Eventually you run out of other peoples' money and people will vote for change. 2010 was just a start for a fiscally conservative change in this country.

Did you know that there were experimental socialist communities in America during the 1800s? Of course the socialist "leaders" all came from europe but where else would socialists come from? Oh, they all failed for the same reasons that socialism fails everywhere, eventually. Some figured out there was no punishment for not working so they didn't. Then they tried to force people to work (like slavery) which ran even more people off thus dooming socialism to fail everywhere. Socialism's notion that everyone should be made equal in possessions, pay, etc. is only compatible with the most primitive of societies. Equality under the law and opportunity is the only equality that intelligent free men desire. ;)

Those are opinions, not facts. FACT.

medicare and medicaid are Social programs not socialist. they are paid for with open understandable taxes, and you are not forced to participate in the program (you will pay the tax for it) If your house catches on fire, your local fire dept tax pays off as a benefit to you. if your house never catches fire, aww fuck! thats socialism! you may disagree with the program, lobby for its change or elimination, or its expansion if you want, but keep the rhetoric on tight and on subject. anything else is just jingoism

medicare, social security and medicaid do NOT NOT NOT represent more than 50% of federal spending. The defense department and homeland security do.

now its 70% of federal spending? i dont know where you get your numbers but the last budget we had was Dubya's last one in 2008, plus the baseline expenditure increases built into that budget. you certainly aint getting your numbers from that budget, nor from the continuing resolutions which just basically say "Ditto. Give us one more year just like that last one"

the only time i ever even heard number like yours was from The American Enterprise Institute, a right wing blabberbox (they call themselves a think tank) who made a lot of wild speculations and weird impossible projections based on worst case apocalyptic scenarios to come up with most of federal spending going to social(ist) programs by 2020. it was specious bullshit then, and still is now. all of america's social programs together are merely a drop of piss in an ocean of diarrhea.

if you get your numbers from crazy people, and make speculations like a crazy person, people might start to think you're crazy.

did you know there used to be, and still are experimental communist societies here in america? interestingly, their leaders come from here, the USA. they still succeeed thrive stumble and fail for the same reason any other organization does, efficient and well managed leadership, or incompetent boobs and thieves.

up till the late 90's i bought my weed from a hippie commune from up by the oregon border. great prices, great dope, and they would always drop in a few extra grams if i helped em fix their vehicles.

Yet another mental midget whining about the word "socialist" and denying the FACTS. If I can't opt out of paying for the programs that go to pay people that didn't earn it, they're socialist. Too funny... :D

Look up the numbers if you can pull your head out of your ass.
Yes, those three programs did account for nearly 50% in 2004. FACT.

Yes, those 47 programs do account for 70%. FACT.

Denial isn't a river in Egypt...

Try again, I linked the 50%/70% articles. You've done nothing but run your mouth. Obviously, the Doctor is suffering from Cranial-Rectal Inversion. :D

C'mon doc, where are those modern successful socialist utopian societies? Still up in oregon near the border? In the White House? Are you going to be sad or mad when obamacare is repealed next year? :D
