Pre-flowers during VEG.

Ok, so I was reading on strainhunters, and Franco said if you leave a plant in veg. on a 18/6 cycle, 2-3 months after it has already been in veg. state they develop pre-flowers sometimes. I was wondering if anybody has seen this phenomenon?

"Mother rooms are often kept at an 18-hrs light cycle, sometimes at a longer one, to promote vegetative growth. Depending on the strain(s) present in the room, light cycle can be adjusted to prevent flowering. Some strains, when kept on vegetative growth for longer than 2 or 3 months tend to start flowering, or to show pre-flowers and to slow down their vegetative growth. A good way to prevent this from happening is to increase the photoperiod from 18 to 20 hours per day."

Yeah once plants come mature they will show sex via pre flowers but obviously will not continue to flower unless they are switched to 12/12. 2-3 months seems long. 6 weeks is what I've heard but never experienced it because I've always flipped before hand. Strain will change when the pre flowers show, but also things like Topping will set that back.

Thats why im getting pissed because im trying to choose a mother from three OG Kush started from seed, im skipping their veg. so they can go straight to flower and I can see which one I like the most. Im just wondering if im going to have enough time, those 3 bitches are getting huge! Still got at least 2 more weeks of in the cloner and 9weeks in the flowering. Im hoping it will be enough time for me to harvest, smoke, and choose!

I could have swore I said, I have feminized seeds, its not about pre-flowering, pre-flowers should only show up on a 12/12 photoperiod. I was asking had anybody seen there plants get preflowers on 18/6 photoperiod. I can not say it any easier!

I know a guy who knows a guy who has seen this 'phenomenon'...keep it in veg and it should show sex eventually. You can also put a light proof bag over a branch for 12 hours a day to determine sex.

I vegged my plants for 5 weeks on 18/6 and switched all 7 plants to 12/12 a mere 2 days ago. For the first time so early, 2 of my plants are showing female pistels. I've never had that happen before in what is now my 5th growing cycle.
Weird.

This post is so damn old haha but i'm going to comment anyway. I have a plant right now that is female and in preflower and veg. it's been showing sex for about 3 weeks now and it's 9 weeks going on 10 weeks. A seed I got out of a Bag from the local dealer.

Pre flower in veg is plant to plant on when/if it will show. Ive had them show very early and ones that ive sat on for way too long that just refused to show in a way that inspired confidence. Most dependable way to sex if you dont want to put the plant in question into 12/12 is to take a cutting of it and put it into 12/12. Its said you can put it directly into 12/12 but i prefer to let it root first.
