Everyones advice has been useful. I don't have a cooltube yet, just a 150w hps so hanging the filter and fan at the level of the lights isn't necessary.
I'll try to put the fan and filter on the top shelf like you said so the outtake can be in a different spot where the heat rises but I may not have enough room for that.
If the top shelf doesn't work do you think I can just put the filter on the floor deeper into the closet corner?
It's a pretty deep rectangular closet and since you guys said the outtake shouldn't be near the intake I can stick the filter back a few feet in the corner of the closet. Route a few feet of hose straight towards the fan which sits by the door than make a 1 ft bend towards the outtake port at the bottom of the door.
Would that be ok with the air being pulled from the bottom back corner of the closet by the filter?
Then have another 2-3 passive 6" intake ports near the bottom as well with about 4' of hose bends in each intake to prevent light leeks?

@Stinkbug: Papaya does seem underrated I've been hearing nothing but good things. Papaya definitely deserves a spot in the list as a solid choice.

TH seeds is having a promo buy a pack get 2 free bubblegums. Maybe a pack of MK ultra or underdawg og would be ok? Although MK packs seem to be sold out.

I've been running a cross of LSD and BlueBerry, both from Barneys about 8 years ago when they still sold regular seeds. The buddy that made the cross named them LoneStar Blue Heaven as he lived in Texas at the time. He moved to Denver about 5 years ago and we lost touch. He is/was a member here too with the name OldGrowerDude.
The right pheno is da bomb for my depression and helps some with my arthritis and has been a hit with everyone I've sent seeds to. Easy to grow and some finish in 52 days tho the more sativa leaning can take 70+ days. I think it's the Mazar in the LSD that gives it it's good effects for me as I have an auto called Purple Jem that is a cross of Mazar and LowRyder that has a similar effect.

I like Buddha's better. Far easier to hit the right pheno. A bit more fussy growing then Barney's but, I'm not a fan of Barney's variations in quality overall.
Buddha's has hit 24.3 as a personal best in tested THC content....This was years ago and with a synthetic nutrient. Friends still run the Buddha from seed and do better then Barney's...Just saying.
Opinion's vary, so run what you like!

LSD was always chunkier for me. Could get tall too.

Thanks. It's a pleasure to grow and I want to cross it with my CBD Otto#1 so will be sprouting a few soon. Need to make more seeds of it too. The last time I grew some for a seed run I had a hell of a time getting them to sprout. Finally took 4 of the last 6 I had, scarified them in a pill jar lined with 150grit sandpaper and planted directly into screened promix and 3 came up so I had 5 with the 2 out of 13 that sprouted from the first ones I tried.
Would have kicked my own ass If I'd lost that strain.

Nirvana northern lights removed from the list. I really want NL#5 maybe I'll pick up one seed.
Bomb strains seem to do what they want to do. I'll make sure to watch temps in general. I heard berry bomb or cherry bomb doesn't like to be topped. Not sure about their other strains.
So far we have 2 votes for barneys blue cheese. It seems like everyone's a fan of LSD and blue cheese from Barney but they don't like any other Barney strains lol. Interesting because it's always blue cheese and lsd and not any others.

Hmm interesting, Buddha does have good stuff. Hmm so it's hard to find a good pheno with barneys blue cheese.
Yea LSD may not be the best closet strain if it gets tall. I want to veg for 2 months so I get nice yield off one plant. May not be able to do that with lsd or tall strains. Blue cheese may be the better option and similar strains like it that stay squat.

That's what I kind of want the low smell strains. Maybe I should take out the gorilla bomb and other Chemy ones. Platinum banana is going to blow past my carbon filter through my closet door when I open it and go straight through my hema air purifier lol. Maybe northern lights #5 is worth the money since it's so stable and low odor.
That's why I'm so interested in the northern light blue as well. Hash bomb is another stealth strain but heard it's like middies. Big bud strains like big bomb is low odor but like middies.
I would like to know a potent strain that has a minimal foot print so I don't have to worry every time I open the closet door. Probably always need a jar of ona around for emergencies with the stinky strains.

Sadly, any blue berry from seed is not much like the original DJ Shorts. Even his seeds today are a far cry from the first, original BB he so masterfully created.

With the 4 week slow dry I do and another month of burping it smokes real smoooooth.
I really haven't a clue who might have the best Mazar out there and am gravitating heavily to CBD strains and crossing them with the strains I've been growing and loving for years.
I recently bought Original Skunk and Blueberry from Crop King to cross with my Otto#1 CBD girl and have 3 of each growing now. Hoping for two males each to cross with the Otto and a nice female each to make more seeds of the same. None showing pre-flowers yet.
A cross I made a few years back is one I really love. Old Kali Mist x old NL#5 both from the now defunct Marc Emery's seed bank around 2000. The Kali would give me heart palpitations and anxiety for the first 15 min so crossed it with the NL5 and got a toned down version that really hits the spot. I call it Northern Mist. Some phenos take 12 -14 weeks to finish but well worth the wait.
That's another one I want to make a CBD version of.
A buddy is sending me some Island Sweet Skunk x D.J. Short BlueBerry so excited to get those and cross with the Otto too. Wish he'd get them in the mail soon. Claims they are packaged and ready but he's a bit of a flake.

We're rural too with the closest neighbour about a half mile upwind of us so no problems there but in the winter we get static wind conditions a lot and as my wife sells eggs we get strangers dropping by to pick them up. The stink hangs around the yard like a blanket so bought a big carbon filter to get rid of that.
No skunks around here at all so can't blame them dammit!

Training, topping and FIMing make any tallish strain very manageable indoors. Bend 'em, shape 'em, any way you want them. ScroG comes to mind and the tall ones are best for that.
