Odd sprouting question

Sort of an odd question, but maybe its common or something is wrong or could be coincidence. Not sure. I have rarely had many problems sprouting. I actually use an egg incubator set at 74F.
I normally use paper towels inside bag on a plate. Never had a problem really. In years past I had a problem but not sure it was related. This time I used a white cotton towel . Doubled up. Problem, it took 4 days to see sprouts start to to open ( normally for me most of the time 24 - 48 hours ) what happens is they are 'stuck' they won't open further. Is this indicative of anything? Same thing happened years ago. They take longer to sprout, and they get stuck like maybe they are old seeds to begin with? OR could it be the medium? Odd . I was thinking the weight of the towel vs paper towels asre much different. IDK maybe its just plain coincidence. Just seems odd once they break open, the shoot just starts to show and then they just sit there like that and never start growing larger.

Update: My bro just told me the exact same thing just happened to him with the same strain. He's 3 hours from me different seeds same strain. Gorilla GLue. Maybe theres something to this?

I've had seeds do that but when sprouted in little pots of screened ProMix HP they were poking out of the medium in 3 days. That was 20 years ago and since then I've always sprouted seeds in those 9-hole seed starter pots whether for DWC or going into pots of the same.

Don't use any real soil for the ones destined for hydro. The couple times I did I ended up with root rot that I successfully beat back with high doses of 35% peroxide.

:peace:
