It's a disturbing trend that's for sure. I see ads run daily by lawyers promoting help with disability claims. These guys know how to work the system and take advantage of a growing market.

You don't have to be a genius to figure out why disability claims increase and decrease with unemployment rates. It's a shame our country is run by people who think certain laws of economic realities are just theories and can be manipulated on their terms. This trend is with us for the foreseeable future.

The ads make me sick
There used to be a time being a drug addict or alcholic could get you SSDI
The process would take about 2 years with appeals of initial denial. But the claim would eventually pay out from date of filing

Nothing worse than giving a Alcholic or drug addict 3 years of back payments when it finally gets approved. The alchys would buy a car and go on a party until they ran out of money or crashed the car

Yep, an then the other side of the story there are many deserving people being turned down and forced to jump through repetitive hoops to survive. This central planning stuff is hard.

My white fat ass neighbor collects disability. Didnt stop him from putting up a wrestling ring 4 years ago in his back yard. He says he cant get a job because it will cut off his disability check. And he needs that because..........He is a stay at home dad

trust me living it is half the problem. 682 a month, pays everything and leaves nothing left over to live on. you get that back payment, you arnt allowed anything that would put your house over 2,000 dollars. which means your car, computer, radio,tv, and what ever else including phone. cant go over 2,000 in value. so you figure out how to make sure your car sucks ect. or you keep your mouth shut and own anything so you can live. they never check. BTW amputee, missing t 10, multiple fractured ribs( now its arthritis). SSI and DI are not all its cracked up to be. though i hear of people getting more a month.

You have a disability. and if you can get some part time work you can do. It shouldnt count against you.
My neighbor's only condition is he is allergic to his own persperation.
He also revealed to me that he is a racist. He told me he hates Manual Labore

Totally fucked
aint it?

Notice the state? Alabama. What a liberal state that is.
Given that Hale County is 59% black and Obama won the election there gettomg 63%, I don't think you can blame the problem in that particular county on conservatives.

This is a federal problem anyway, not a state problem. I thought it was interesting to highlight the movement of people from welfare to disability.

They can still get disability, it just has to be for behavior problems and not alcoholism/drug addiction per say.

You don't find it racist that you need to include the white in front of fat ass?

Took my aunt forever to get approved. She has muscular dystropy and can't drive or cook or clean or anything. My mom had to fight for like 2 years to get her full benifits.

The Social Security Administration says otherwise.

Resources are the things you own such as cash, real estate, personal belongings, bank accounts, stocks and bonds that you can use for your support.

To be eligible for SSI a person must have $2,000 or less in countable resources. A married couple must have $3,000 or less in countable resources. If you own resources over the SSI limit, you may be able to get SSI benefits while trying to sell the resources.

Not all of your resources count toward the SSI resource limit. For example:

  • The home you live in and the land it's on do not count.
  • Your personal effects and household goods do not count.
  • Life insurance policies may not count, depending on their value.
  • Your car usually does not count.
  • Burial plots for you and members of your immediate family do not count.
  • Up to $1,500 in burial funds for you and up to $1,500 in burial funds for your spouse may not count.
  • If you are blind or have a disability, some items may not count if you plan to use them to work or earn extra income.

http://www.socialsecurity.gov/ssi/spotlights/spot-resources.htm

Like you said, they don't check and even if they did you can get it while trying to sell your 'resources' above the allowed amount. Most people wouldn't have $4000 in personal goods in their homes unless they have expensive hobbies.

We aren't talking about welfare, I don't know that people think 'black' when they think disability. It never occurred to me that black people got disability at a higher rate until I looked it up when checking demographics of Hale County based on your statements.

catheter is an icon of racial sensitivity.
I am not racially sensitive. I don't have to be. I can, however, point out the hypocriticism inherit in Smokey the bear getting drunk and having a huge bonfire during dry season while telling you to be safe.

I would post a video from the movie Masters of Menace but it was never converted to DVD and there are no clips available of scenes. The full movie is available on youtube though:

How does race correlate to demographics in Hale County in regards to who is getting paid disability?
