I need to move 16 plants that are 3 weeks into flower about 2 hours away. They are in 5 gal smart pots and are 4-5 ft tall.
Im going to rent a 20' U-Haul, put them into 20 gal plastic containers to protect them, and hopefully tie the buckets to the inside of the uhaul..

Are there any recomendations / suggestions / pitfalls i should be aware of etc?

thanks..

Pretty much laid it out for yourself

If you can get card board boxes and put them over the plants and just tie the buckets to the ground.
Sounds like you got it all planned out though.

yeah try and make sure there isn't any space for them to move around or tip over. Good Luck and don't get caught.

I would transport during night cycle just so you dont mess up light cycle. esp if you put cardboard over them for protection. move them w cardboard and once in ware house get your dark cycle setup move boxes into warehouse and no messing w light cycle

I don't think 2 hours of no light during light on cycle will make or break them.
That is your best bet honestly.

Moving them while it is dark cycle and you get light leaks will hurt them much more I'm sure.

Don't dump them on their heads, and you'll be fine.
Don't stress!
A couple/ three hours of light cycle change/ interruption won't affect them unless it becomes a habit.
Move them, resume whatever schedule you want, and wait for the harvest.

I had to do this a while ago, and it was stressful. I was also using smart pots and I just pack them into boxes and put towels in the bottom of the box to pack them in tight. just pack em in there tight so, like others have said, they don't tip over. two hours won't hurt em. They might looks a little limp and stressed at first in their new home, but they'll bounce back quickly.

Sounds like you planned it out flawlessly OP. Just be sure to pack them as close to the back as you can. You know close to the cab. Tie those girls in there as tight as possible. Spend 10$ and get some rope to tie them in there extra tight. Also some trucks actually have lights in the trailer that turn on when the vehicle does. Waaaaayyyyyyy back in the day I worked for a very large moving company that had illuminated trailers. So you may want to check that out as well. I've personally rode inside of those trailers. You can never be too careful especially if it would interrupt a dark cycle. Which brings up another point.
There's also floor vibration. Those are hard metal and wood floors. Any bumps you hit are going to shake around whatever is sitting on the floor. For things like furniture and stuff it's no big deal. I'd personally put something up under them to absorb shock and avoid vibrating the root structures a lot. Mattresses, couch cushions or anything soft. That may sound a little overboard but better safe than sorry. Hop in the back of there and have someone drive over some train tracks and potholes
