Thought some of you might be interested in low temp Al brazing skills on some of your frame builds. If you can solder you can braze. Same rules apply. Clean your surfaces well, heat the metal not the solder, let it cool and have a third hand.

Rods are available at Harbor Freight $17 for a 8 pac of rods or online. Could be quicker, cheaper easier than drilling holes. Of course you need to be sure of your design. It wont come apart to easily.

I've brazed a lot of copper on boilers, it was always with an oxyacetylene torch with a rosebud tip..no flux because the high heat cleans everything ..only knock was the joints look ugly, not pretty n clean like solder joints.... Does the low temp aluminum leave the joints ugly?

Brazing down a heatsink to an aluminum plate is a good idea. We welded a few fixtures together and from what I saw the heat would transfer to the plate as well giving more surface area.
