Lighting question? early stages

So I just set up my little grow closet, I have 3, 4ft tubes set up and my little guys are about 3 inches tall, my question is what kind of light cycle should i be using? 20/4? I have no idea and dont want to mess things up at this point. Cheers!

Well, that question is rather debatable. Many use HID, HPS lighting, however these lighting systems can be quite expensive as well as very costly on your electric bill. I've been using CFL (Compact Flourescent Lighting). They give out very low heat, while still emitting the spectrum your plants require. However I wouldn't recommend these for a large grow, of let's say 5 or more plants. A 23 watt cfl is approximately equivelant to a 100 watt incandescent, thus saving you much money. I use 3 for one plant. One on top and two on the sides to reach the lower buds. Happy Smoking.

Oh sorry, misunderstood. The light cycle for vegging should be 24 hours of light or 18 hours of light and 6 hours of dark. As far as for flowering 13 hours of dark or 12 hours of dark will be sufficient.
