Knock from Cable Company, HID causing spikes

They came to one of my properties, turned out it was a broken tv cable into the back of a TV nobody used. They can't tell if it's a lose cable or a secret grow op. But simple solution is to cut the cord.

Anytime you use any high frequency device with a long cable (ballast, welding station, class D amps ect) it will create some type of noise from the output, this is normal and if you put it near any type of network that also oscilates at the same/similar frequency range, it can interfere.

The amplitude of noise will depend on the quality of the cable, shielding/quality of the ballast's digital power supply & orientation/routing of all signal cables.

So the next guy to have this problem, you should carefully plan your cable route away from other signals, use good quality cables and always coil up your slack to help bleed off the remaining EMI.

I've worked for both the cable company and as a satellite tech. We came across lots of places with grow rooms. No one from the companies i worked for ever cared. In fact my boss's company policy about pot was, " if you have pot, then you have to share". Lol

Update on my situation as well. Cable guy came last night. I had to shit of my scrubbers because they vent outside so the house got smelly. He checked everything and said I was good to go.

You're tripping. Multiple members have chimed in saying they have had the same complaint from the cable company. Cmon man, it's almost 2020. You really think feds/cops/thieves are going to go undercover as the cable guy to bust a grow?
Depends on the state bro...though I think he said he’s in CO...sadly a friend of my son and myself got pulled over about two years ago, cop smelled weed in the car, I guess being young he screwed up and lied, so the cops searched the car..found maybe a gram...and charged him!
It dragged on for months and as I kept assuring him it ended up being dropped, but not before he went through unrealistic panic for months, he’s an Ex-Marine and had very high security clearance that would have been lost.
anyway, a couple months later, this still fresh in his mind he had a tiny fender bender on a Friday coming home from work, I’m guessing he had weed on him, or maybe he’d had a drink....but he freaked out took off, went home and shot himself.
sorry for the book, but this reminded me of what happened to him in 2018.
Old hippies like me will probably still be paranoid when it’s finally federally legal, it’s just in our DNA✌

Get internet through your cell provider via a hotspot device with it's own cell service. Hotspot cost me 10$ (one time) for the device, plus 20$ a month for unlimited internet that allows up to 12 devices on it.

Then get a roku with sling, hulu, netflix, amazon prime, or w.e else you want. You'll reduce your cost of cable/internet by a LOT, AND not have to worry about RF issues.

Much cheaper than replacing all your grow equipment
