so I know the my mylar is going to help but kind of ugly and I'm getting sick of looking at it, has anyone ever noticed a significant yield reduction when it's present t or not? I like my house and I have a whole entire room covered in it is not ideal for me it's just tacky, I know, looks of anything besides the buds shouldn't matter, but that little voice inside of me is telling me to rip it down. Walls underneath are white. Big mistake or naw?

I prefer it, open the door when lights just shut off, turn on a cell light or flashlight and look how it bounces off the walls etc.

I know it reflects light but to what extent compared to white walls, will I only loose 5% if I tear down or is it much more efficient than I think, 15_20%?

I know it's hard to compare grows as they're all different but who's grown with it and without it and what was the difference?

i was using just flat white paint. just put up mylar to test on this grow. it does seem like it is "brighter" in there. i'm leaning towards keeping it. does give you that hall of mirrors feeling though.

Somewhere here there is a reflective quality breakdown and the difference is minimal. After seeing it and getting some input from here I went with a white satin exterior paint.

as far as i understand it this is the order from worst to best
5 black walls( absorbs all colors no reflection factor at all)
4 reflective tins/foils (they increase the heat along with reflect)
3 white walls (white reflects all light waves hence it is white massive defusing...lower on distance due to defusing )
2 Mylar (greater rate of reflection with more distance and some defusing of the light)
1 Tent Mylar (this one has the distance of reflection and defusing of the light do to the pattens of the wrinkles and designs they use )

basically it like putting the plant in a white room that light comes from every surface .....it is one of the reasons inside grows make more then outdoor (even tho outdoor could have more lumen/par rating then the light u use)

I have a PAR meter and there is no question that it increases said PAR, especially on the mid - lower portions of the plant. It's not an astonishing amount, but my PAR meter can read zero below the canopy without mylar and I can at least be getting in the 20s - 50s (even more in the right spots) just from mylar reflection. White is very good too, but it needs to be the right white, titanium white, I believe, is the best.

There is a type of mylar that is "mirrored" on one side and bright white on the other. Supposedly, even when placed with the white side showing, the film allows the mirroring portion to assist in reflectivity, and vice versa.

A lot more popular than you think your post is! ..better to use flat white paint...

once you have done a few grows the deal about reflecting light around is bull ...

wait and see!

rip it down dude. Not as reflective as a flat white paint job but that is still not as reflective as a 4mm white reflective plastic. White on one side black on the other. 100% light block and from 89% to 90/95% reflective

No more "tacky" than your whining about stupid shit on the Internet. I say go ahead and take down the Mylar and throw it in a landfill. Put it out of its misery from having to deal with your annoying persona.

it may look bright as hell but it is not a smooth reflection. You tend to get hot spots and it is not as reflective as it looks. It doesn't defuse the light as well as flat white so you plants don't exsorb as much as they could

What is a hot spot?? I can tell you that the two lights in my room are the hottest spots in there!! My entire room is reflective including the floor. The lower fan leafs grow upside down collecting light from the floor and lower walls. Never had a plant burn from a "hot spot"
