I am considering what set to get for my tent but trying to save every penny as electric for my 600w hps is a bomb

My tent's vents are 5.1" so is there a way of using a 4inch fan or does it need to be 5inch?
As i see in the picture the fan is on the outside of the tent, in these item descriptions there is nothing about the size of the ducting?!?!! so is all ducting the same size and can i use the ducting for my 5.1inch vent's?

Hello ED. The 4" Fan is going to be around 2 or 3 Watt Cheaper to run and will be More than enough to keep the Smell And heat out of your room.
It is also 1 db Quieter to run than the 5". ;-)
I Would recommend getting 2 more Hose Ducting Clips and also get some 4" Insulated Ducting as the WHooshing air noise is quite loud.
I Bought some 4" Plastic Ducting and a 90 Degree Plastic Bend from Jewsons and it made it approx 80% Quieter
As i showed you last time, I have that same 4" Fan Kit from the same Ebay Shop and would Highly Recommend them.
The 4" Fan Kit listing also has an installation picture on how to set it up correctly like the Photo i Showed you of my kit. :-P

How's your Electric Bill :o:o:o:shock: Mine's Going Through the Roof :o:shock::wall::cuss:I'm on the 5th week of Flower now so i'm Hoping i'll be finished in a week or two kiss-ass
Take Care ED.

Electric is a fucking bastard my friend lol, i don't know much about how much louder a DB is ? is this fan going to be that loud really? it's my own flat + are you sure it isn't something some dubstep could cover up ;)
Basically will the sound reach out of the room? My flat is quiet soundproof i just wanted to know if a 4inch will do and by the sounds of it it will :) +rep if i can rep you again buddy

Does the product come with something to hang the filter up? i don't know how heavy they are could it just be hung at the top of my tent with string?

Bungee cords work for hanging. And I'd go with a 6" fan personally, get a 6-5" reducer for like $8 at lowes. With the smaller ducting/filter, you'll put enough restriction on the fan to keep it from being loud while still getting a ton of airflow. If nothing else, put the filter on the outside and push through it. Not as effective for the filter, but it prevents you from having to buy a duct muffler. There's also fan controllers, you can make a DIY for next to nothing.

Depending where you are and how much you pay for electric (Im in socal with some of the highest rates in the US), a 600w light should only be a few bucks to run each month, even on 18/6. Its only roughly 10 kilowatt hours per day, so 300 per month. My baseline charge is $.13, by upper tiers its more like .24 Either way thats $39-72 per month. The <10w difference in fan sizes will be a couple cents per month so please don't base your decision on that. Depending how hot it gets you may really regret the limits a 4" 150cfm fan vs 6" 450cfm has.

$80 shipped - http://www.ebay.com/itm/6-INCH-INLINE-EXHAUST-VENT-FAN-BLOWER-DUCT-AIR-SIX-WORKS-CARBON-FILTER-/220919615965?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item336fd5d1dd

It alone comes to a minimum of about 30pound for the month, hard for me to tell now though as i'm paying off some debts on the meter at the same time either way it is definately worth it.

no reducers. They have air that comes back out (backdraft?). id go 4" inline fan. Maybe ecoplus supreme? Is this also running a carbon filter? If so, then the filter has to go right on the fan, no hood, as the hood leaks smell in (even at 99% sealed).

Go 4" highest cfm you can get.

What do you mean by CFM? and id like to get the 4inch if it will work to save myself 15quid from the 5inch one i'm on a budget here, but won't the ducting come in 4inch and be too small for the vent or do you stretch the ducting at either end to fit with the clips? one second there is another picture like that one i need to show you

I can't find a picture but it showed the fan and filter not straight into eachother it had some ducting imbetween isn't this the best way?

my tent has draw strings (like basketball shorts) to make the vents smaller. I paid a shitton for it, honestly some rubber bands around the vent part (if it has the fabric tube like part in the vent) would work.

even so, there should be no problem using smaller sized ducting.
CFM is cubic feet per minute, if this is on a carbon filter, the fan should empty the tent 3 times a minute (or so). If not then it just needs to get the heat out enough so the temps stay udner 85 f (sorry I dont have the celcius off hand google will do that for you).

MOST IMPORTANT- duct booster fans are not what you want for a MAIN fan. They work ok, but not for heat removal for a 600 watt or for carbon filtering effectively (what are your smell control plans?). Just fyi you want sqwuirrel cage (loud) or inline (still loud).

I was posting as you were.
Ducting in between is fine, but not through the hood. Even if the hood 99% sealed still slowly lets smell in (and my whole neighborhood new for about a week! Could smell it out front slightly, on my deck...).

Oh yeah my tent has them strings i was wondering what the hell they were lol.

That's true but i always have the rooms window open for good air circulation 1percent of that smell getting out will go out the window it's not a problem :)

Not backdraft, if anything it would be blow-by if you pushed into the reducer, but I meant to pull through it. Either way, at any joint, use duct tape, finally using a made for ducts, on ducts! :bigjoint: Should be used on elbows too as they have leaks as well.

Some Ballet music with a nice Bass Line will cover up the noise quite nicely  When i Shut the Bedroom Door i Can't hear it at all
As for hanging it up, I got an old Inner-Tube from an Old MotoX bike and cut it into Rings about 1" wide and threaded them on to the Bars on the roof of the tent. Then tied some String to them down to the Fan and the same for the Filter. (I'll get a photo for you to have a closer look tomorrow sometime). It took the slight Hummm from the frame of the tent Away.
And as i said before, The 4" Fan & Filter comes Complete ready to Run (Apart from Cable & Plug) and is more than enough power for our 1.20 x 1.20 x 2.00mm Tents with a 600 Watt HPS/MH Light.
I Would still Recommend 2 more Jubilee Clips though coz you use 2 to hold the Filter on to the Fan and then you will need another 2 for the Fan to the Tent Exit.

Rotti.
ps. thanks for trying the +Rep again  All i keep getting is something like "you have to +Rep other people 1st?" even though i have been lol...
