So is

Is that factoring in the extra heat from a stronger hid unit. Which in turn would actually decrease quality of bud if temps got to high and then would need to invest even more money into a bigger exhaust fan which then also adds an extra accessory to monlthy electric costs . I already had a 400 watt hps and temps were manageable but not ideal. I couldn't afford that mich extra heat upgrading to a 600watt hps or adding another hid on top of my 400. Which is why i opted for the cheap led. Which most definetly made a difference in speed of growth. And my temps only rose about 2 degrees total. Meaning I didn't need to upgrade to larger, louder, and higher wattage fans.
The heat difference is negligible.

I don't know why people got this idea in their heads that LED's are not as hot and cut your temperatures in half. They don't. At best, you're looking at a 2 or 3 degree difference ambient.

In fact, in a cool tube with a vent and fan, the 600 hps will run much cooler than your LED will by far.

In the end, if that's going to be the straw that breaks the camels back of your grow, then you're living on the edge an not doing things right to begin with.

If you have the 600, you can throw your 400 in the garbage. It will be completely redundant.

Hello guys, nice thread. I'm new to the forum but I thought I'd throw in my current results with viparspectra 600, and 2 300's to supplement flowering. It's my first grow but I've helped with several freinds setups in the past using hids. Anyways, end of week 4 flowering - 3 royal cheese, 1 amnesia haze and 1 critical x og. Loving the lights so far...all my freinds constantly battled heat issues (as it gets quite hot where I live) and with these heat has not been an issue.

Biggest buds I've seen yet on our cheap Chinese lights. Good going , I'll post pics later today of my photos under my 600 vipar

Here's a pic of my biggest bud...but what I'm happy about is tge quality of the lower buds...they're dense and frosty even though they're over 24" from the lights. Very happy.

And that's where you see that those cheap LED's just simply don't have it. With a 600 watt HPS that doesn't cost much more than that, your buds would be that thick half way down the stalks at least rather than just at the top few inches.

You get what you pay for.
I think a 600 watt HPS would be cheaper than that 450 vipraspectum LED http://www.ebay.com/itm/250w-400w-600w-1000w-Watt-HPS-MH-Grow-Light-Kits-Adjustable-Reflector-Hood-Set/382013852329?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&var=650932478133&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649 and my 150 watt HPS out performs any of the cheap 300 watt LEDs I've tried (mars hydro, meizhi) as well as a 130 watt DIY using bridgelux eb strips (159 lpw at 700ma) and only cost $60. and my 150 watt hps actually produces less heat than my mars hydro.with my T5s I get good buds 24 inches down the stalk.but it requires proper training to open the plant so that the light can get past the canopy.

I'm currently finishing up my first grow with 2 viparspectra 600's ... Everything looked great during the grow. As I'm pulling plants out I'm quickly realizing that there were a lot of congested areas where buds were growing and not receiving proper lighting/airflow. Super light colored buds, light and airy, not green in color what so ever. My main colas look FANTASTIC, all upper buds getting full light look primo.

My tent was 2x4x5.. I had 4 girls with a scrog.... I tried to grow two sativas with two indicas, they got in the way of each other. My next grow will just be two girls with a nice scrog net... let everything breathe and grow up. I'm finding a lot of dead growth ( no weight, light in color, not developed buds)

I LST'ed my indicas to grow completely sideways not knowing that they would grow a bunch acrid baby buds since they were hiding under the sativas.. lesson learned.

Every grow needs space, let em breathe, let em grow.
Something that I really enjoy about this hobby is how much you learn with each grow. What not to do, what to do the next time. Always having that possibility of an even greater outcome the next time keeps you coming back for another grow. I never realized how many variables, techniques, and experience comes into play when growing. Its one of the few hobby's that will only have the potential to get you so far by just researching. 80% of your success HAS to come from pure individual experience. every single persons grow is in some way shape or form unique and different and not duplicated anywhere else. different lights, mediums, nutrient regimens, environment, available space, temp, RH, and so on and so forth. Its nice to see someone who can be honest with there grow and create some sort of constructive criticism for next time.
