You state that you've got an 8-bucket DWC. Do you mean "RDWC" or "UnderCurrent", or are you running each bucket individually?

Pics of the system in 2 week
Very nice!

Keep an eye on your roots, to make sure they don't grow into the tubes, which they will. When that happens, you'll have overflowing buckets, because they'll fill without having the ability to drain. You might already know this, but it's worth mentioning, in case you don't :p

The smaller you pipes/tubes, the greater chance you'll have these issues. It's just the nature of the beast. You'll learn lots about rdwc from your first few grows, and adjust accordingly. Based on experience, I wouldn't use anything smaller than 1" pipes/tubes. Keep that in mind as you're doing your first rdwc grow. Going bigger will probably be one of the first, and best, upgrades you'll probably do. Thankfully, it's really inexpensive!

Good luck, and keep posting those pics :bigjoint:

Why don't you build yourself a little dwc bubble Cloner, and root clones instead of growing from seed? You'll knock time off your first week or two, you'll always have females, and they're free. You can build a bubbling bucket for around $25, and there are tons of easy diy tutorials on YouTube!

Down the road you may want to keep mothers, so that you can take clones when needed. But if you don't have the room to keep mothers, you can just keep cloning your clones, until you need them. What I mean by this is, you take your cuttings from one, or several, of the plants you're growing, once you've sexed them. Then you root them in your Cloner, and let them veg for a couple weeks, until they outgrow the available space. Then, you take cuttings from those, toss out the vegging plants, and replace them with the new cuttings to be rooted. You do this over and over, until you're ready.

You root clones with very little light. Just a CFL, or cheap Floro tube will do. Then, you can use several CFLs to veg your clones.

Just a thought :p

Thanks so much actually I didn’t know that in regards to the roots growing into the tube I will definitely keep that in mind of had to adjust them a couple of times when they covered

And I’ll definitely go bigger next time with my tubing .

Again that’s a great idea and I’ve been pondering it it’s just my space is very limited once I move I will definitely get three tents one for vegging one to keep a mother or two and then one for flower and then a fourth micro tent for drying and curing ... a man can dream.. lol

And with my next go around I’m going to do exactly what you said about cloning after sexing ..What are your thoughts about feminized seeds and I know it cuts cost cloning 100% but of ive genetics are a little better with seeds just not sure if feminized are worth it because I can always start my seeds a month before flower is finished veg them for a month under my T fives in my kitchen...... and then set them in the flower

Feminized seeds are definitely worth it, and AFAIK, there's no degradation. Plus, if you plan in taking clones from a regular seed, you have to grow it a couple weeks into flower, once you've determined their sex, to get cuttings from only the females. Then, they have to re-veg, which can take a week or two, before the clone will start trying to root. Cloning over and over doesn't degrade the genetics. They are exact copies. They grow a little differently in hydro, compared to soil. In soil, roots have to use energy to search for food and water. With hydro, these are being delivered directly to the roots. The result of this is a weaker stock, but that's about it.

Check out my RDWC link in my signature. I go into a lot of detail with my setup, and I solved a lot of issues along the way. I use 2" pipes in mine, and it works great!

I'm growing "Bonsai Mums", which are small mother plants to get clones from. They're only about 8" tall when done. Mine are about 5" right now.

I’ll check out that link tonight after my daughter goes to bed and really spend some time analyzing it to apply your methods and what you’ve learned to my own I’m going to get one of those bubble plant cloners eventually your set up looks sweet ... and I would actually begin to implement your method now as far as taking a cutting from these plants once I’ve sex them it’s just I don’t know these genetics Yet... I might make a trip the hydroponic store and do it anyway though just in case he’s a great genetics ..
answered one of my questions I appreciate it I was thinking that if you took cutting and then took a cutting from the cutting and cutting from that cutting the genetics would deteriorate but as you let me know it does and I appreciate that currently right now reading Edward Rosenthal‘s book

Thanks for your input I really appreciate it going to help me be a better farmer
