Clones or Seeds ?

Clones have their advantages, but they can also be problematic. OK you're guaranteed to have an all female grow room.Clones are replica of a source plant unfortunately loosing potency, vigor & aroma after a few generation. They also carry diseases & pest from grow room to grow room when they are passed around. Starting from an unknown clone is a bad idea as you may have the 15th generation in your hand.Starting seeds and taking clone from seeds coming from a well established seeds company like Sensi, Serious,Paradise,Thseeds,Dutchpassion,Flying Dutchmen,Greenhouse,Soma or any other reputable seeds bank should always be your first step when you chose clones.

With Seeds on the other hand you can grow multiple variety at same time, variety that sometime nobody else around posses, Plants grown from seeds have a better structure than clones, they also carry their weight better, bondage & tutor are less of a necessity. Anybody (almost ) can grow successfully some fem auto strain. Clone don't come up with beginner manual.By growing naturally occurring seeds the more advance grower can't perpetuate the spicies & create new ones. Plants from Seeds are more potent & those from f1 seeds have spectacular hybrid vigor.

Though, in multiple plant hydroponic setups, clones are the better choice. Phenotypes are nothing to gamble on when forced to feed your plants on the same nute schedule.

I respectfully disagree.... First I've been smoking the same cloned weed for over 12 years. If anything it gets better with knowing how the strain reacts to diff conditions. And there have been many strains that have come & gone but we always come back. There is nothing wrong with seeds.... you find one you really like ... then you clone it. Seeds are much more difficult & time consuming.... clones are ready to go!!!! :peace:

Yeah, load of old tosh about clones losing potency and shit. Theres clone only strains which have been knocking about the UK for 30 odd years and there still going strong. Ive kept the same mother for a good few years and cloned the hell outta her with no loss of potency taste or aroma.

I won't jump on the bandwagon and say my clones have lost potency, vigor, or aroma over time..oopps I guess I am on that wagon.

I also am able to grow 6 strains at a time, and usually keep my own mothers, but if I had the ability to buy clones I would. I don't think seeds come with a beginners' manual either.

You can continue the species (you probably mean strain) from seed or clone, male clone + female clone = seeds :dunce:

You should always put UNKNOWN (referring to pests, disease, bacteria, and not strain) clones in a seperate room or tent to make sure you wil not be adding unknown guests into your main grow area, once happy that the clone is healthy you can move it into your main veg/flower rooms.

I think it really just depends on the growers prefernce and the strain he would like to grow, for non-breeders clones are quick and easy and you can see what your getting, seeds have a mystery hidden inside that is not released until germinated!

I've cloned my Mums again and again and again. Once a year I'll start some fresh seeds ( to seek out a new phen mum of the same strain). If you want to put quite a few in a sq then clones are the only way to go. How else can you grow such an exact SOG ??

Sounds like you got everything figured out, was there a question there somewhere?

PS -- You are about 50% correct in your clone analysis. Ever actually do any cloning or are you passing
on what you heard. Dude, why pass on "info" that you know nothing about?

Does it still get u stoned after 12 years? I usually chop and change mine so I don't become too resilient to it.

Clones or Seeds ? that's the Question

My clones ? I have clones for outdoor right now they are Guerrilla Gusto from Sensi seeds. i will plant them next week.
Guerrilla gusto pix1.jpgGuerrilla gusto pix 2.jpg

I also have an indoor strain : BC kush/ BC bud depot that I'm not cloning Right now, I personally alternate between seeds & clone Having no preference between the 2. With Clone = all plant are the same on every aspect. With seeds a little more trouble but you can enjoy something different everyday. I have a collection of 27 world class strain most of em' multiple award winners.
Made my first batch of clone in 1978 & I'm still doing them the same way in pro-mix, no hormone only the shape of the fluorescent as change. Most of the weed i have grown was from clones. But where would i store 27 different mother plant ? I will not compromise & abandon any of my strain

I run clones now. I don't like wasting veg space on males. Seeds are kinda fun for the surprise factor. And you have more variety choices. But I don't like spending $$$ on something that may be male or crushed by customs.

I dispute the clones lose potency after so many generations I know a head that that's been cloning 4 times a year for more than a decade. If I burned you down with it you wouldn't be able to tell because you would be so f*cking high. Oh it's a ww x big bud strain from amsterdam

I have heard you loose potency only when you clone a clone. meaning if you have a clone from a mother and you clone it again and again it will, over time, loose potency. I have heard this from a clone dealer inside a medical marijuana dispensary, but he could of just been saying it for the business. If he lets you know you can clone clones, then you would never come back for more. Anyways does anyone know if this is true or not?

Rubbish, the only times a clone of a clone will have issues is if the parent clone has been stressed (pests, heat, nute burn) but I don't see why anyone would take a clone from a plant that was not healthy, I myself would wait the two or so weeks for the plant to regain health then clone.

OK I got to admit I the idea that a mother plant or her clone loose potency over generation came from ear-say or from something i read on the net ( I don't remember ). Personally I use to have a mother Northern Light ( sensi seeds) that i kept for 3-4 years, I never ad a mother plant for longer than that one, It was still good when i replace it with a more potent Romulan ( Federation Seed ordered from Marc Emery )

Clones do not lose potency. It depends on who makes the clones and who is growing them. Seeds are cool but take wwwaaaaayyyyyy took long to complete a cycle. All the clones I make are bug and disease free with no mold. As for moms after 6 months, I start a new one from a clone I took from it.

I have the real Blue dream and it's clone only but I've seen fakes were people who buy seeds try and do the same cross. Which is Blueberry and Super silver haze. People have told what I had is the best BD strain where I'm at and my friends who grow it tell me please don't lose that particular strain.

Nice setup :bigjoint:I agree on the fact seeds take long to yield, my BC kush clones flower in 7 1/2 weeks as for my favorite from seeds, cultivator's choice Haze take 18 weeks
