can you take too much off the top of the plant

I am taking the tops of my plants for clones. I was wondering if you can take to much off. I want to make them the size I want is the an option

Yes if you take too much it will harm your mother.

Take the clones from the bottom branches.

When i take a clone i usually cut it a little past 2 nodes down.

rule of thumb when pruning anything, never take off more than 1/3 at a time.
