Now it is clear you're making things up.

One of my HPS lamps is 24 years old. Another is 12. The longest lasting LED today will last roughly 5 years maximum.

All I ever replace on my HPS lamps are the bulbs. It's about 20 bucks every 3 years. With an LED, it's typically 400 dollars every 5 years.

As far as cost goes, LED is ridiculously expensive vs. HPS. As I've said before, that will change in the next 15 to 20 years I'm sure, but for now the cheapest is still HPS by a long, long way.

You pull over a gram per watt with an hps bulb running for 3 years? Ive never seen numbers like that that's impressive. What kind of led are you talking about? Those garbage mono Chinese panels?

Smells like a load of shit to me. Wouldn't listen to anyone who says they only replace their bulb once every three years.

The HPS bulb is only used for the flowering stage. It's rated life is 24,000 hours. It runs 12 hours per day for 3 months for one grow. That's only 1,080 hours. I do two grows per year, so that's a total of 2,160 hours per year.

The MH bulb has a rated life of 12,000 hours and runs for 18 hours per day for 2 months on one grow. As stated before, I do two grows per year. That's a total of 2,160 hours per year.

So technically, I could replace the MH bulb every 5 years and the HPS bulb every 11 years and I'd be just fine.

But I replace them every three years anyway even though they don't need it to make absolutely certain I'm getting the best spectrum possible.

Before you make really moronic, uneducated posts, you should at least have a clue what you're talking about. If you're not going to do that, at least have the ability to do basic math.

I know I wouldn't run a bulb for more then 3 runs with other changing it. Whether you believe you have the same lumen output after those three years or not I think you'll notice your last two years your hurting your yield and quality. You know you loose practically 10% per couple thousand hours and even hortilux states you need to run that bulb for 1k hours before you even use it. So after your 3 years you probably have 70 percent or less of your output and probably way less of the spectrum you think you do. I think you may be thinking bulb life and lumen loss are the same and it is simply not true. Life expectancy is for lighting a warehouse where as long as you can see no one cares. Simple math haha your dreaming bud. First person I've ever heard Boasting to use a fucking 20 dollar hps bulb for 3 years. Fuckin joke. Bud prob running a 150w hps in mommy's basement smoking all daddy's herb at 45.

Buy a simple lumen meter and test one brand new and then test it again the third year and maybe you'll learn something from real world experience instead of living by some life expectancy on a 20 dollar warehouse bulb. Hahaha your not kidding anyone bud.

cobs, leds, hids, until you can shrink the Sun and shove it into your gardens...just try to mimic its spectrums as much as possible. Regardless of the dick swinging that goes on between the lighting jockeys

hortilux loves my ass.....three, four crops and I switch out my 600 hps bulbs.....just getting used to plantmaxx mh 400 bulbs atm. great breakdown of lighting hours dude.

That's so far from a lie, it's common for people to use separate lights for flower and giving an age on account of purchase date rather than usage within that date is a technical oversight most people would make.

If only warranty's applied, or rather complied with your logic though :hump:.

Using different lights is common but you said your hps bulb lasts 3 years that's not the case. I have a bulb I've only turned on once its been sitting in a box for almost 2 years I would never tell anyone it has lasted me 2 years when it's only been turned on for 10 min

I honestly can't recommend LEDs they are over priced and don't really have enough pay off to rationalize that big an upfront cost (yes I have tried them) , i'd say a 600w hps with air cooled reflecter.
