Baywatcher's Basement Blowout

Thanks for dropping in adower! I'm not really "training" in the sense that I would if I was doing scrog. The cages are there to allow me to easily make even spacing, and to support the large colas that are the result of the mainlining. As I move more plants into flowering (eventually I'll have 18-20 plants under three 1K HPS lights), I'll be able to group plants with similar heights under the same light. I've never grown any of these strains before, so each morning the flower tent is a new adventure as I watch what they do.

Of course, if the Hash Passion doesn't stop getting taller soon, I may be forced to do some training simply to keep it out of the hood!

Time for the weekend update.

The Third Dimension that I suspect of harboring male tendencies has detected my antipathy, and started to yellow in response. The clone should show this week... Actually, it has just been in this 2 gallon pot for almost 2 months, and it is probably starving. Show, dammit. :(

The Kaboom clones still refuse to root, coming up on 4 weeks in. I'm considering just shoving the big plant into flower and being done with it, I'll know the sex soon enough after that.

I topped all the Blackberry plants at the third node for mainlining. I'll grow out the 3rd node pair and take the 2nd node pair as clones. I also spent some time dealing with the extreme non-symettrical clones I have of Headband, Fire OG, LSD and Hash Passion.

These are the Critical Jack and Pineapple Express plants I topped to 16 heads and moved to 7 gallons last week. I think this is the final training that they will need, everything is spaced like I want. They will veg for probably 3 more weeks and then head to flower.

I took these Pineapple Express and Critical Jack plants to 16 heads and did some bondage -- they'll go into 7-gallon pots next weekend probably.

Here's the whole veg tent

The Third Dimension I've been bitching about decided to show. I've apologized to it, and moved it into a 7-gallon. It will need some TLC but should be fine in a few weeks.

I'm not sure what you mean by "watching my parameters." As for why 7s and not 5s, I only have 7s :)
sorry, typing too fast. If your watching the perimeters of your plants id think that you could get away with smaller 5 gallon bags if your not planning on getting hige yields. I just figured if your saving space. Ive gotten two pounds wet from a five gallon smart pot. Thats why i keep asking about the big bags. Somthing i didnt think of though which makes perfect sence now that i actually think about it is that that mainlining may be easier with a lrger container as a base. :):):)

I think mainlining works best with large root balls, so an additional 40% soil above a 5-gallon is also helpful, especially when the 16-headed monsters start coming through.

Here's a look at the flower chamber as the lights turned off this morning. I think holding the LSD plants in veg until the cola sites are a few inches above the ring seems to be the right thing to do. It isn't doing a lot of stretching (the two in the middle are 1 week ahead of the two on the right, but were flipped when the cola sites were even with the screen). The far left are two Hash Passion around 2.5 weeks. The two middle are LSD at 9 days. The two right are LSD at 3 days.

It is a Moroccan Landrace allegedly. It is supposed to finish in 49 days, we'll see. I plan on turning all of it but a couple of colas into ice water hash, and to get it tested at a local lab. It is very sensitive to hot soil early in its life cycle, but it has had no problem with a 40%-45% supersoil 7 gallon pot. Based on how it behaved during veg, I had not planned on keeping it around, but it has me intrigued now.

If it really is a morracon landrace, you might be turning it all into hash. I was watching the Strain hunters morraco edition a few months back, and it sure looked like alot of the plants didn't actually grow much "bud", but rather leafy material and small calyxs that were all completely covered in resin. I believe that was a big reason that hash is so popular there and they turn the whole crop into it. They showed them with the dried plants too which looked all like leaves and sticks kinda but they were dry sifting TONS of resin off them.

The pix I've seen of other folks growing it look pretty much like a normal, if stretchy, plant. It is definitely making bud sites.

Mid-week update: Finished shaving the legs of the ladies in the flower chamber and cleaned out the trashcan I use as my RO reservoir. The Hash Passion seems to have stopped stretching (or at least slowed a lot). I did some spacing work with the 16-head LSD almost all of it is at or above the cage. It looks more like it is going to be a 15-header unless #16 gets a serious growth spurt though. However many it is, it goes into flower Saturday night. There are at least 3, and maybe by Sunday, 5 2-gallon plants that were cut to 16 heads last week and need to go into 7-gallon pots this weekend. I'll try to get psyched up for lots of dirt moving by the weekend...

I haven't shown a seedling pic recently, these are Pineapple Express, Critical Jack and one Third Dimension. They need to go into 2-gallon pots this weekend. And finally, the Kaboom Clones That Will Not Root. These are a month old. No roots. /boggle.

I dont think you can find many true landrace beans for sale. They just wouldnt lead to repeat customers, its probly crossed with some indica that produces well and then stabilized. It sounds like its going to be a low producer and i hate cheap plants so id never pick it for my garden but theyre good lookin and i cant wait to see how HP turn out. Im not expecting the biggest return but who knows right, that HP could do really well. :):):)

So close on the minisplit. Everything is done except the electrical, which will be Monday or Tuesday it looks like. Today is one of those rare days when there's absolutely nothing to be done except stare at the garden. Everything got watered yesterday, all spacing is good, etc. I'm gonna just head down there with my ipad and a bong, and chill for a bit.8-)

That sounds like a nice time right there man. I love sitting with my girls, putting some music on and smoking. I sat down there for a good half hour just staring at them when I was tripping tuesday night, I love watching them "grow".

Man this quote made me so jealous, i wish i could have a day when everythings done. Im pictureing you wearing a rayon hawaiian shirt and sitting in one of those beach chairs drinking a corona and wearing raybans soaking up the rays. I want to quit my job so bad right now. :):):)

Well, I had *work* work to do unfortunately, but it's a rare day that doesn't require at least a half-hour or so of gardening.

In my quest to experience the full range a strain has to offer, I decided to load a bowl with a small piece of Headband bud, topped with a large dollop of Headband honey oil, sprinkled with a dusting of Headband ice hash, topped with a fat crystal of Headband QWISO.

I now need new lungs, and a nap.
