Turns out the guy was out on bail after being charged with murdering his ex-wife.

He was also under investigation on a suspected 47 indecent/sexual assault charges dating all the way from 2002.

Australia is a strange land; one part Great Britain, one part California, one part Texas.

Obviously the firearm laws in Australia did nothing to stop a convicted criminal from getting himself a sawed off shotgun and using it on defenseless law abiding citizens. I wonder if this story would have been different if some of the Cafe patrons had guns themselves.

Yes, there would have been far more casualties as armed citizens would have just started shooting indiscriminately at anything that moved, terrorist and hostages alike. Because, you know, science.

I'm waiting for the autopsies to come back to see if it was the cops bullets that did the injuring and killing or the perps shotgun. My money is on the cops doing the most damage, but we will see.

Lol uhh, in ny there were 4 cops attacked by guy WITHOUT gun and somehow random bystander was SHOT along with wi.dows to stores filled with bystanders...

I would trust my life in hands of someone who went out of his way for liscence to carry then a cop. Albiet the bystand with liscrnce has way more firing time anyways

The one in New York where the cops injured like 6 people cos they missed with 13 rounds or something?

It's alleged one of the victims was killed trying to shield her pregnant friend and the other was the manager of the cafe who tried to tackle the gunman.

He's NOT a terrorist, he's just a nut job with a shotgun, a black flag and a chip on his shoulder.

He didn't even have an ISIS flag with him, he was just an idiot with a shotgun.

If he's not stupid, why'd he do it alone? How long can one man control 17 hostages with the fully militarised police outside?

He didn't even have explosives, he had to lie about it.

The school siege in Pakistan was an act of terror, this was just a mentally disturbed loner who wasn't getting the attention he deserved in his own head.
