Anyone Ever Tried a Double Harvest?

I'm trying an experiment with my girls. Just wondering if anyone has ever tried harvesting the top half of the plants and then harvested the rest at a later date. I recently harvested four Girl Scout Cookies plants and found that that there were still tons of smaller immature buds under the mature ones. I said ... what the hell, and put the chopped plants back under the lights. Anyone ever tried this before? How did the second batch turn out?

Everyone's experience will be different...

I tried top cola harvest...
Then left plant to bulk up on the bottom buds...
The "Air" buds, turned a bit harder..
However, not that much more yield then as if I took it all the same time...
Try it... tell us how you do!

In the summer I cut the tops then put the rest of plant outside bucket and all.

But I see nothing wrong with letting the low fruit finish if you have the time and space.

If it were a small amount it might be worth it to just turn it into hash
and get the next batch rolling.

While I didn't, I bet others did, but I came here to wish that you show us your results and contribute to the common growers' knowldge.

Fair enough ...

charface ... My original plan was exactly that. Buds that didn't make the grade were deposited in the hash bag. In fact there are three grades of hash (scissor, lower quality buds, and trimmings). Thing is that this variety seems to grow decent sized buds all the way down the stems. I already harvested about a pound from four plants (dried, still curing), and the remaining three look like they could produce at least a couple more ounces. Really glad I cut a bunch of clones. Here is what they look like today.

That's actually very common. At least that's the way I do it, but my reason is because I trim as quickly as possible so the leaves don't get limp, so I only take a few branches at a time, sometimes letting the bottom branches stay for a few more days.

Here's the scoop!
Since buds beneath the canopy were underdeveloped, I started fertilizing again. For the sake of science, I decided to not fertilize the smallest plant to see what would happen. Unfortunately, I ran out of time and had to start flowering the next batch of plants, so I harvested before they were done, but I learned a lot from the experiment. First, the buds on the fertilized plants started swelling to probably double their original size, but they were not mature buds and would have taken another month or so before getting a significant THC level. The unfertilized plant ended up with the same small buds that it started with, and they looked a little sick (crispy edges, dark purple foliage and buds). The second harvest is still drying, but I estimate the dry yield to be about 6 oz total from the three plants. That's a lot of herb that could be smoked instead of ending up in the hash pile (assuming that the buds were allowed to mature). Sorry, no pics. I was in a hurry.

Great!
Thank you!

How long would you think you would have to carry on flowering the lower part of the plant to get enough yield for it to be worth it?
