Added euro reflector to my cool tube

So yesterday UK temps soared to a massive 13c. Thus pushed my grow space temps upto 32c. Scary shit. I bought a cool tube a while back but it was a bit shit for light distribution. So I went to simple euro reflector for a couple of weeks. After yesterday's twitchy bum time. I butchered an old euro reflector I had from a light kit I bought a while back and attached it to my cool tube hoping I get the best of both worlds will let you know how it goes when it's in but so you can see it.... Ive been having similar heat issues here. I have a pre made version of that cool tube! Didn't do bad but for me wasn't enough to reduce temps. Im hoping this new rhino thermostatic extraction fan does the trick, If not, I'll be plunging for a/c !! :(

Got it in and up. I'm using a 5 inch kaizen fan and filter. I know I should ideally have a second fan for the tube but I'm not growing enough to warrant the electricity bill being sky high. (it's already pretty high lol) I think that rhino should do it for you unless youre in the desert or something. What was you using to cool the tube you had running similar to this

JDbase How does a cool tube not reduce temps, that's very strange, unless set up wrong in the first place!

Colanoscopy, I would open the reflector up a bit to spread the light more evenly across the canopy.
What you have just done is what I did with my 3x cooltubes, although one actually came with a hat style dutch barn reflector. The ones I adapted were much better footprint.
That's the down side to cool tubes ey, the lesser footprint. But you gota do what you gota do. 3 open dutch barn reflectors with out the cool tubes was impossible to manage, the cooltubes kept it all in range.
You should be fine with the fan the way you have it. I used to run an 8" airforce2 fan, Filter>Fan>reducer>cooltube>cooltube>cooltube> chimney out. Worked pretty well.
Just on a note of electricity, fans don't use much, my 8" is about 100w or something, my 6"ruck is less than 50w I think. That doesn't add up to nawt when your electricity bill comes in, so if you end up struggling come summer you can always add that fan into the mix.
Other option would be to increase the size of the filter and reduce the amount of duct to bare minimum. You can always raise the plants instead of lowering the light when dealing with early stages of growth.

Edit, you should close that top sock vent that's open, filter will draw air from there rather than from below .

I was using a cheap velvis or some similar brand name to that. 5 inches also, I had it with the filter and fan strapped to the top of the tent > 90 degree bend to cool tube > hose out the tent to exhaust.

Both lengths around 2 ft in length so very short, and like you I didn't have a second fan arrangement just the one extraction which was probably my issue.

If I was sticking with the cool tube Id have a fan solely for that as you say, and another for extraction. The fan set up will cost ALOT less than the harm to yield and quality. Nevertheless I have had my previous plants thrive but i had to keep the tent open a lot which wasn't too good for smells.

I moved onto a 315w CMH which isn't air cooled and my temps peak at 30c still, but my set up is the same except I don't turn on my 600w HPS, it's all in place still until I fit the new fan up later today.

@coreywebster the above should answer your question too haha. In a similar situation to the OP I didn't think having a seperate fan for extraction was cost effective.

I did close the sock mate I literally took the pic as I finished swapping the euro for the cooltube. My fan runs a something like 468cfm exchanging the air in my tent every fifteen seconds. And is designed to cope well under a heavy ish load. That's why I got it. I will be flexing the hood out a bit next time im in my room. (when the tents sealed it reflects quite well all over from the Mylar. It's because I had the doors open for the pic) I appreciate the Input very much though. Like JD said though it's not just the cost on the electric bill. It's the buying another fan. The Mrs won't let me buy online so I end up paying hydro shop markups but it's good to support your local hydro shop anyway imo.

Been looking at cmh but they're expensive outlay. The fact you're growing with one just earned you a follow. I might end up biting the bullet once I've grown enough smoke to not spend my spare cash buying more weed lol. Money is an issue at the minute. It's my first grow. And buying the tent. Laying a floor in my left. Buying nutrients and everything else has set me back about 600 quid. Until I see a return by smoking my own I gotta be economic af

You sound like you're in the same boat as me about a year or so ago mate. I got this CMH kit for not much over 200quid and my electric bill has dropped significantly.
Ive just been reinvesting each time. Ive just done an auto grow which had exceptional yields in Rockwool and now I'm on photos and going vert now to try maximise my yields. Keep an eye out for my updates soon im switching to flower. Just got myself a new tent for veg and using my old 1x1m as a flower only now.

That's my plan to reinvest what I can. I'm doing 4 white widow x big bud in a scrog in my 1.2m x 1.2m x 2m tent. But building a veg cabinet first so I can at least have something semi perpetual going. I will keep an eye on how you're doing with the cmh and see if it's for me. High temps in summer are bothering me at the minute so I'm trying figure the best ways to get them balanced. I made the prototype of my scrog which will be 1 of 4 separates. I do have a post somewhere if you can't be arsed looking but wanna see. Shout up I'll post it here

Yeah man! Start a grow journal, ive got one going but I only think its worth posting when things start to flower haha.

Yeah I got a small 60x60 veg tent for the same reason, got some kings Kush clones which are definitely keepers and I always love to have variety so I start several seeds at once and pick out my favourites.

Looking forward to see how your grow turns out! Ive never done a scrog before. From 4 autos I got around 12 oz all natural on my first grow with lots of issues.

JDmase, your in the uk too then?
I also bought a 315cmh, got it as a temporary light, I use cobs now but only in half my 2.4x1.2m, I had too many plants and was losing out on penetration so had to get something quick(other than my spare hps's) so the cmh went in there vertical between 3 of the plants that were crowding the area.
Cost me £200, nice light but from what those using them for flower are saying only cover 3x3 in the proper reflector.
I will use it for veg eventually.
Plants have been within 5 inch of the bulb without any issues, so that's a bonus. The spectrum is amazing too.

Anyhow lads, enough of me waffling, hope you get everything running perfect Colanoscopy.
Best of luck to both of you with your grows now and in the future!

I have started a grow journal already mate. Even did a little run through of how I prepped my coco. 3 Oz a plant is good for autos I would think especially organic. Would be too much for me to have loads of different strains. Still pretty much polishing the basics of caring for one strain haha. And Naa mate get your veg pics in as well. People wanna know what you can expect from veg times too. What certain strains preferences are to nutes etc. Fire it out there if it helps one person it's worth your time

Mate I come here for the waffling. I can talk at my Mrs all day but she just pars me off with a nod and smile ha. Temps climbed no higher than 25c today can deal with that. If there's a sudden major spike in temps I'll swap my 600w out for my 400w. Runs like 2c cooler. And every little helps. You UK lads north or south?

Yeah mate im down south.

The CMH fit in my 1x1m perfectly. I can't fault it at all, not seen much difference between 600w HPS in veg but ive not flowered out with one yet.
