im am ordering a light today. still havent made a concrete decision on what size.
it will be a cooltube'd and in my tent. the dimensions of the tent is 2 ft by 4 ft and4 ft tall. do i really needa 600w? i useda 400 watt for my last indoor grows and it worked great for my closet that was slightly bigger. but i want BIG ASS buds.

what yall think?anybody get a 600 after having a 400 ?

do 600's really get that much hotter? im gettin a digital ballast for sure so i wont have much extra cash for the 435cfm fan i want, have to stick with a 6'' fan that pushes like 140cfm for like 32 bucks. i wont have a carbon filter so would that be enough to cool it down?

That wont be enough for a 600w. Check out my grow I am using a 600w with a 400cfm fan. It stays right around 80 but I also put a little fan on the light to make a jimmy rigged air cooled hood. LOL If you get a 600w air cooled hood you might be able to pull it off. I also have two other fans to bring in fresh air and one to circulate it. Here is my first grow all the specs are in there.

If you can cool it go with a 600w, the more the better. I wish I would have bought an air cooled hood! But I got my light setup on ebay for $150 full setup with two lights! Can't beat that. for my flower room next grow I am going to go with 2 1000w lamps air cooled hoods. But I am going to drop around $1,500 building that addition.

yea im getting the one thats a huge box type air cooled hood for better reflectivity or w/e. should i push or pull with the small fan?

do i really need a 600 though, i mean that tent seems small for so much light. but then again, at a dispensary i go to, the old guy has a sog growing under a 1000w hps in a cooltube. its not bright at all! i think its the reflector though.

I would pull it, and you aren't going to be able to put a filter on that IMO cus it is going to create too much back pressure. So where ever you are growing is going to get stinky! LOL They guy at the dispensery is flowering with 1000w cus it penetrates better. I will be flowering with two of them once I get my grow setup complete. If you go with a 400 you will be fine bro, my friend does veg with 400 and flower 1000 on his ebb and flow sys. It is a coin toss for ya, I went with 600. One recomendation I have is get your room up and running for a couple of days so you can make changes without the plants in there.

OH are you legal? What state. I am up here in WA

yea im in socal, legal as a regal lol

i dont need penetration as much, im doing a sog style after i let the bushes i got finish. (had to decide which strains i liked the best out of 4)

yea i like it when it gets stinky lol, everytime you come home its a warm welcome:hump:

A 400w will adequately cover a 16 square foot area. You have an 8' sq area. Don't listen to anyone telling you to run a 1000w in that tent. If you can hit 35-50 watts per sq foot you are doing great. A 400w gives you 50w per sq and 1kw, which will require a new circuit pulled to your main panel box, gives off 125w per sq foot. Way more light than you need to be paying ABC Electric for.

I would run two 400's in that big of a space bro, I don't think a 600 would cover it.

400 should be fine for that space. Just go direct center one day, then like a foot to the left the next day and a foot to the right the next and keep that cycle goin. Everything should workout gravy for ya.

I'm running 600w in a 2x4x5 tent but I need a digital ballast with dimmer to make it work. On cool days I can run it at Super Lumens (600x 10 to 20%) and when it gets warm I can set it to 360 or 400w. I'm using a cool tube and 6" inline fan rated at 435cfm

Good luck, you can make 600w work in there but it's not easy

After reading all the info on lighting I chose to use a 600W as you get a bigger yield on average. Its all down to personal preference though. Hope this helps. :hump:

ive had big yields with 400 watts in the past, but it might have been the b52 superskunk strain from nirvana that helped.
