The only explanation I can find is that you are reaching the light saturation point. Do you use co2 ?
320 watts of qb132 in a 4x2 tent gives an average ppfd of 1223, 320 watts of qb 96 elite gives 1042 ppfd.

no co2.
i dont disagree, i have to water the qb96 a ton more, in order to keep the plants from just burning up. i have found the qb96 to be a nice cheap alternative without supplemental spectrum adjustment, the qb132 i prefer to run low and get them closer to my plants now. Toward the end of flower i do get some crispy bits on larger leaves but the bud still turns out great.

I’ve found that my yields have no changed in my 2x4 tent, 320 watts of 4x qb132 and 2x qb96 have yeilded almost the exact same.
And one last thing, 320 watts for 4 qb 132 is already more than the maximum, I would dim them a little to be safe. The maximum hlg lists is 75 watts but the real maximum is 79.2 watts. 80 watts is already over that.

To calculate the real maximum we use that the maximum current of the lm301h(b) is 200ma and that at that current it runs at 3v, using the formula Power=current x voltage we get that the maximum power of a lm301h diode is .6 watts. .6Wx132=79.2W.

To match the 660nm content of qb96 elite you would need to add like 5% 660nm deep red. For 750 watts that would be like 37.5 watts. Rapidled sells solderless red diodes that make it very easy to build supplemental strips. You could make 3 rows of 5 660nm cree xpg3 diodes and have more deep red than the qb 96 elite. Those diodes run at 4umoles/joule so they would bring the efficiency of the qb 132 to a similar efficiency that the 650R.

I agree its a compelling alternative although your numbers aree slightly of: at 750mA or 1.65w these xpgs will run approx 3.5/j at 25C and unless you match the diode count of almost 2300 white diodes its going to be hard to get to diablo efficiency. But you know what, with a build like this it matters very little the spread out nature of the build gives you an extra advantage in spread and photons not lost to walls compared to more compact builds. Many ways to skin this cat.
Ive been recing the qb96 lately due to easy build and all in one together with the huge capacity they have for any future projects, having enough to double the wattage by justt buying s drivers is a nice thing.
Incidentally our build is very similar: spread out but its in an open space in an aisle which makes access easy. 3200 lm561c over 1x1.5m aapprox at 480w.

Maybe my numero where wrong , sorry I needed coffee and my memory did not serve my right. By close I mean 2.72umoles/joule or something like that.

The numers of the 650r includes driver so its hard to calculate, the 4umols of the xpg is top bin on nominal but rapid got the mid bin. Apparently top bin is next to impossible to source. The real deal is about getting tthe photons to cannopy which what you propose does real well.

Thanks, that is right we should also take into account that the driver runs at 95% max efficiency so that brings the efficiency down a little.

If it was me I'd get the 2 XL 320 kits. That would give a better spread. You could always replace the 6 Rspec boards with the Diablo boards later if you want. That's my plan. But I love my Rspec's.

Oh and use promo code "RIU10" for an extra 10% off.
What’s the difference between the r-spec and the Diablo board?

r spec is 3000k+660 nm and diablo is 4000k+660nm. diablo also has more diodes i believe its more efficient.
Gotcha. Thanks. You wouldn’t happen to know what driver is used on the hlg 320 kits do you? I’m going that route but seems to be substantially cheaper piecing it all together myself ( at least so far )
