What would you pick led or hps?

I think the main point is that ambient temperature affects the surface temperature of objects as well as any directed heat/light source. A cat may enjoy the warmth of the HID bulb, up to a certain point. Above that point, the cat may become uncomfortable and move.

This is somewhat analogous to leaf temperature. If the leaf temp is raised passed a point of photosynthetic efficiency, due to non photochemical quenching, then overall photosynthesis can begin to diminish. Plants can’t get up and move to a cooler location like a cat can. They have to deal with excessive heat/light/drought through physiological means. This results in more plant energy being put into reducing photoinhibition. When we are paying energy bills to optimize the environment of an indoor grow, this scenario can become counterproductive.

Have you ever tried to pick up a cat that has been sleeping in a bright sunbeam for awhile? They just melt! :)

Anyway....yeah plants will grow under LEDs or HIDs just fine. I have no science to back it up. I'm just saying that, after growing for a long while, I believe that the plants "like" (whatever that means) the light coming from a warm bulb in a directional way. But, most of the time, I use LEDs to grow because I believe they are safer.

I'm more of a dog guy myself lol. The white one loves to lay out in the sun, the brown one prefers heat but shade, the black one is all about the coolness and the shade. The white and and black will break through frozen water to retrieve a duck though and be very excited about it.

The point is the cat will only prefer the hid light under certain conditions, just a the plant will.
Cool, so in std growing conditions, not extreme (although like we said, 90 is not that extreme if any) the cat/plant will prefer the more complete light.

This is just another smoking gun, a nice little touch on many more evidence and aspects in the leds vs mostly anything else
The literature and the studies is out there for everyone to see it's not hidden.
At the end, everyone is entitled to choose and pick what suit them the best.
We just share information.
Happy growing and those are some nice dogs @Beeswings !

Honestly I'm in Minnesota and hope the growing regulations get more loose so I can utilize more growing techniques, right now I use the sun, LEDs and florescent tube. I'd like to try so many more variables with so many more plants.

Depends what n where u live if the temps are high hps will be too much hard work and load LEDs are lower heat and. Perfect lumens all year round they have a spectrum of light Which covers a lot more

Led efficiency is very dependant on ambient temperature as well these companies data is based on perfect conditions, this chart is from the lm301h datasheet, remember they are talking about the solder junction point temperature not ambient the actual diodes are higher temp than your room in almost every case.
