Is lollipopping really worth it? Does it increase yield

It's basic biology that cleaning up the bottom should have some sort of impact up top. But even of the yeild were exactly the same, I would still trim up the bottom to save me a lot of time when IT comes time to yield.

Time is money. Why would you spend the most time on the smallest most insignificant buds? Not I.

I'm outdoors the whole way. Also total hobbyists. I don't weigh or sell anything. All I do is a little LOB {Lean over, Baby} work with mine. I'm not one to do much trimming on even the good bud until it hits the rolling tray. When I get tired of last season's bud, it goes into the coconut oil with the larf and trim. I would hate to have spent hours doing all that trimming for nothing.

I do harvest a plant in three stages, each a week after the last one. So the lower buds do get a chance to swell up. Not as larfy as they could be.

There's still larf with a mainline. I know because my current plant was mainlined last time. And that had plenty.

Try mainline, there is no larf.

I'm telling you there is larf. Mainline or not. Anything that's not a main cola or a sattelite cola is larf (to me). And I had plenty of it.

Maybe it was the lamp used? What are you working with?

Last run was with a 90w blurple. Yes I know blurples are so-so. But this was before I knew anything. I'm still seeing larf develop. Even with the new twin Vero29c cobs I'm using. They're 182W.

Either your trying to mainline clones which dosnt quite work or your not pulling suckers as they apear through veg

Nah. These are buds that form lower down the branch. I got 10cm worth of solid buddage per arm. But then about 0.5cm to 1.5cm down it started making much smaller popcorn sized buds. Probably for the next 5-6cm on each arm.

Thats the problem or not i guess. I know everyone grows with different goals. 90W blurple replaces abought120 130 hid and 180w cob almost replaces a 400w hid. Im useing a 630 de cmh. Easly replaces a 1000w hid. The smallest buds with it in a mainline dry into nugs the size of a quarter and are dense.

It helps have bigger buds and no popcorn/larf to trim at the end, not sure if it adds to weight tho, that seems kinda counter intuitive, i think it most likely is either the same amount or less.

it probably dosnt add any but don't think it takes to much weight away. I do know it greatly increases useable weight. I guess it depends on the individual. me I don't care so much for edibles. its a totally different high. I plain cant do dabs my old lungs cant take it. I used to save and smoke the larf but it isn't the same either. for me the mainline means more and heavier jars, but again, for me it increases useable harvest

I concur. I leave my plants unadulterated. In my opinion removing what has already began to grow already has more potential mass than then removing it (thus putting spent energy to waste).

This is just my opinion. Do whatever you wanna do.

Ive seen people doing it with tomato plants to apparently increase yield, but does it cross over to our plants?

I think the key is to remove the sucker before it fully forms. like quarter to half inch lil nothins

It's common on roses to increase bud sites. However I've never seen or heard about it being used to increase Hop production. Hops for beer that is. 'Cannabaceae family'. Commercial farmed plant. Nobody is topping.

Whatever side your on, the advantage is 90% maintenance and mold control.
