Actually I no longer am because I left the job when I had a mental breakdown from psychological abuse.
And yet even with my reduced capacity to think straight I still know that you are paid by the hour and you don't. I think it is you who is being exploited because you don't even know that you are paid by the hour. Therefore you don't know your hourly rate. So how do you determine what you are worth if you don't know what you are paid per hour?

When did I ever say I wasn't paid by the hour?

Some people get paid by the hour.
Some people work for salary.
Some people get paid by the job.
Some people get paid per piece.

Some people get their feelings hurt and don't get paid at all.

Me, I get paid what I'm worth.

:peace:

Everybody gets paid an hourly rate. If you undertake a job for $100 and it takes you 1 hour then it is $100 per hour. As I explained an hour ago, there are 2 parts to the equation. Time = money. Always been that way.
Anyway, I've done my explaining. You aren't worth anymore of my time, whatever your hourly rate is.

It's just good to know you are no longer being exploited.

I determine my own wage. It is only limited by my efforts. If I want more money I work harder. Been doing it for 35 years now. If you're nice I can teach you how.
If you could determine your own wage then why have you been working for all these years?

I dont know why you want to work harder for..work smarter not harder is a much better way to earn a crust. I still dont see how you could possibly be paid what you think you are worth..Most of us are stuck at what the perceived top rate for what we do is. (and i work for myself, 2 current running business)

Less hrs worked means more time for life.
If you work less hrs for more money then this creates employment as someone else gets to do the work you dont want to.
This is a win win for your personal life, health, lifestyle and for the economy.

But has nothing to do with the thread...

It must suck to be so miserable.
I was once until i embrased the work smarter not harder lifestyle.

10 years ago I went from a working long hrs in the sales/managing game, (top 5 salesman in the country in the industry) earning over 6 figures plus company car/motorbikes and a fuel card. Highest paid person in the country for my position (i know this as I was head hunted by all the competition who would not match my remuneration.) I was paid more than the person I worked under, by a fair amount.

I now work on avg 4 hrs a day 4 days a week. Im a happy man, My wife is even happier. Im healthier and have a fantastic social life now I have time for one. Working smarter not harder is not a myth. Anyone can do it. But you have to lose the myth that working harder gets you more money..its just not true. Some of the richest people on the planet dont work at all.

In my eyes, working smarter is working harder. I think you're getting hung up on definitions and it is causing you to misunderstand my point.

As I have been saying, only those people who allow themselves to be exploited are being exploited. A person can set a value to their own time/labor/work/hours ... and get that if they are willing to put forth the effort. Whether it be an hour a day or 100 hours a week. You found a way to meet your needs and still be happy. You are not allowing yourself to be exploited. It took effort of some sort, on your part, to get to where you are today. I think we are both trying to make the same point.

I decide what I want to do as far as employment. I am currently being paid what I feel I am worth. I am not being exploited. I am happy. Some people are happy with more, some people are happy with less. It is up to the individual to decide.

Of course working smarter is harder for you. :dunce:

Did your friends allow you to exploit them?
